What a sad, sad thread.
What is it about SE fans, (not found on any other phone maker fans) that makes them create so many threads with the word "hate"?
Anyway.. how a phone looks is a matter of taste. You say the 7600 is ugly, I say it looks awesome. You say the T610 looks great, I say it looks great too. Some of you also say "people who buy Nokias are stupid because they don't see the lacking/bad features". They must like the looks then I suppose.
And the tech thing. Nokia hasn't been a big fan of BT in the past (currently most new Nokias have it though) but remember no other phone manufacturer has so many non-business phones (but also all these low-end, fashion, rugged etc), phones that don't require BT. Just a guess.
I agree the 4096 STN screen combined with the Series 40 1.0 platform isn't a very good combination, but still, you can't say "all Nokias have the same historic menu and a rubbish screen". Series 40 2.0 is a vast improvement (smaller fonts, 3 x 3 icon menus and 5-way joysticks, as well as 65K colour TFT screens).
Only 4-tone polys? I personally don't care, I can't even tell the difference between 4-tone and 24-tone ringers. I'm more concerned about the loudness of the ringtone. Besides, I mostly use my phone for SMSing (so I usually only hear the SMS alert).
What else. A bit late with Triband phones, well I've never even been outside Europe, and neither have many other Europeans. And a new 2-band Nokia is a rarity today anyway.
In turn Nokias have these standard features like speakerphone, FM radio, MMS, Java, user changeable covers etc.
What I like about Nokia is the ease of use and the many handy little features. Press the "end call" button and you can always go to standby mode without having to browse through the previous menus. Another thing. You can't for example use any ringtone as a message alert tone in the T610. The first Nokia that was able to do that was the 8310 in 2000 and all later models can do it too. I couldn't use a phone without this feature. Writing messages is also fast and easy, the SMS memory is usually large (150 - 200 messages), the RF is good, the batteries last long.
What is it that you complain about? Not having themes, BT and maybe a slightly worse screen? In the worlds phone market, those are minor selling points.

After reading Flying Finn's comment about this thread i the creator of it have been thinking quite a bit.
If nokia did not exist or SE were as popular as nokia are now and nokia were as SE are now then this website would probably be devoted to nokias and we would all hate SE. We would comment on sony being a big enough company as it is without producing phones. Instead of bluejaking we would do somert like red jaking using IRDA instead of bluetooth.
I also think that for me and possably some others that it is not that we hate every company apart from SE it is that SE have the excellent things like Quickshare and bluetooth. Also I like phones like sagem tey are good and cheap.
My conclusion to this is that there is other good phone companies out there but i will not change my that nokias are too popular and SE is superior in most ways.
Please tell me how you feel

Nokia series 40 phones (7250/7210/6610/6100)-crippled IR. you cant share pics/tones
*A very early post*.......
Anywayz.... Thought i might add (if someone hasnt already!) that newer Nokia Series 40 mobiles let you send media (pics and tones etc) via IR. For example, the Nokia 3200 lets you send media via IR. I was even able to send media to and from a nokia 3200 and a sony ericsson t630!!!

What!!! look at the new SE designs, they're perfectly normal and good looking and they dont use stupid keypads and stupid shapes, they keep it simple and they are still the best. I used the n-gage today.
here's my review: I was playing tomb raider and it turned off halfway through gameplay. They don't use the official bluetooth logo and therefor my SE brain was confused. To sum up its shit and 3 times the size of my T610.
I agree wit andrew-77. Not everyone is the same and not everyone wants a boring candybar shaped mobile. I'm not saying all mobiles shouldn't be in bar form, but its good for manufacturers to bring out something different. Its all down to everyones induvidual taste.
Tec9, if you prefer simple keypad layouts and classic bar shapes fair enough, i'm not arguing against that cuz its ure personal taste. Personally i prefer keypads that look different, and arn't in simple rows but layouts that have a shape to it, as long as their easy to use (or have an easy learning curve/keypad is different but easy to get used to) than its ok.
We all have different tastes and mobile manufacturers need to make a vast range of mobiles that suit everyone, of any age.

And i forgot...
Course the N-Gage is gonna be bigger than the T610!!! It a gaming mobile with 3-D graphics! The N-Gage is near enough as powerful as the Playstation One, you don't expect it to be any smaller?!!

Of the more outlandish offerings, I've had a 7650 and a 3650. The 7650 was great except for it's lousy memory capacity, (4Mb dynamic if I remember correctly) as it prevented you from having any decent amount of WAV. ringtones. The 3650 was more or less the identical but with more memory. The dodgy key layout may have taken a week or so to get used to, but at least your mates couldn't just pick your phone up and start messing around with it.
Nokias Series 40 OS is my real pet hate, especially in conjunction with a 4,096 colour screen (the small ones). It's so dull and inflexible. I like to see a grid or list view of my apps, so I can see where things are and what I can do with them. Series 40 only allows one item to be on the screen at any given moment. It somehow gives me the feeling that I have to fit the phone's expectations rather than vice versa.
Still, I could be talking out of my arse, which I'm sure somebody will gladly point out!

And i forget AGAIN

ARGH!
To Andrew-77, Nokia Series 40 mobiles are improving. The Nokia 3200 is a series 40 mobile and you can change the menu view to either list/grid format. And the screen (even though its the sam size and has the same amount of colours) has improved. Images look alot smoother.
