I'm confused now as I got the same e-mail as above from 'Sameer Das' my DSS-20 should arrive today so I'm going to give it a go but I won't be expecting it to work as I have a branded phone.

Guess the only other option for me is to send it in for an upgrade... I assume this is possible with o2?

I too sent an email to O2 data support, and got the following reply. Hopefully, the message will be starting to get through.........

Hello Lee

I have investigated the problem and the issue regarding the Sony Ericsson automatic update has been raised with the o2 Products team. I currently await an update, as soon as I have this information I will contact you to advise on the situation and advise on any progress we have made with the o2 products team and Sony Ericsson.

Unfortunately I have not been given any timescales as to when a fix will be in place as the fault still needs to be diagnosed and a solution found but I will keep you posted as soon as any updates arrive.

Kind Regards

Tommy Stubbs

My original note.......

Hi,

There appears to be some confusion around whether 02 users of the K700i phone are able to use Sony Ericsson's online update service. Can you confirm what the current status is? I don't really wish to purchase a Syncstation unless I'm sure the upgrade can be performed. I believe that phones from Vodafone and Orange are able to be upgraded online with no problems. I believe Sony Ericsson have made a great step forward in offering this servce to its customers, and hope that 02 are equally keen to provide good customer service.

Best regards,

Lee

@leerichards, I got the same message from Tommy @ O2 Data Support.

Folks, I think anyone who doesn't want to spend £10(ish) on a T28 service cable and then £8 to update their phone should email O2 data support. The more who query the problem the more likely they'll get the message...

If all else fails, DEBRAND!. T28 cable arrived and multiserver only bloody works.

No more forcefeeding of O2 customisation and up to date with R2AA003. Did cost tho but least I don't need to battle with the morons at O2 anymore!

Vive la revolution!

There's a couple of problems with that mate...

a) I don't want to spend money on something I should get for nothing, and
b) O2 / SE know about the debranding and will invalidate any warrenty against any fiddled phones.
