Here's a question for the more knowledgable folks here:

In one of the K700 decustomization guides I've got (K700flashing&decustomization proceedure.doc) it says:

1.- Run TOTAL MultiServer v1.20 or Higher
2.- Select FIRMWARE Flash file K700_Decustomize_Firmware.k7s
3.- Press FLASH Button!
Flashing Procedure will take some 40-50 seconds using USB Flashing Cable
(Flashing Cables are Original SonyEricsson DSS-20/DSS-25 or Fighter USB Cable)

NOTE: This Firmware Procedure is FREE of Charge and credit wont be deducted !!

Do you then have to progress onto the Firmware and Language Pack flashing? What happens if you stop at this stage? Will you have a decustomised phone that uses the existing firmware and language pack?

You will leave youself with a broken phone i expect!

The Decustomisation firmware is not a proper firmware. Thats why i was specifically told to NOT TURN THE PHONE BACK ON after flashing it, like i say in my guide....

You could try it if you like to find out for sure though, i 'think' even if it messes it up you can still recover by re-flashing. There may be a slim chance that if you have version R2A already on your phone that when you run the decustomisation it may possibly still work? dunno just guessing cos the decustomisation file=R2A i believe.

Could try it, then try to use the online update? saving you ££ but i wouldnt want to risk it.

Ok, thanks... I don't think I'll risk it for the sake of a few quid! It was just an idea, and wondered if anyone had tried it...

BTW, the server seems to be working again now and updating to v1.24 properly now...

I just orderd a T28 cable for debranding my k700.
I'm wondering if I can also use this cable for upgrading my fone with the latest firmware from the officion SE site . Or does that only work with a dss-20/25?

at a guess i'd say the decustomisation file wipes the phones firmware, if you update firmware it doesnt lose operator images etc so to just upgrade you would still have the pictures, screensavers etc. So i reakon the first bit wipes the phone and then you put the new version on.

EMEA is Europe, Middle East & Asia
EU is European Union

Almost all language packs have English in them, so if you don't care what other languages your phone has you can use most of the language packs. Check the following table:

Okay, after reading this topic, what combination of firmware and language packs will allow the camera shutter sound to be muted like the old R2A0041 firmware?

I have a Vodafone K700i branded with R2V001, so would be interested in anyone has tried to do this at all.
