3G is high speed, on a different frequency so totally different handsets to GSM and GPRS. Should be fast enough to broadcast live video (amongst many other things).
Already late on being rolled out, different issues arise.
I understand in some respects the marketing department got in on the job before the techies had sorted things out. Someone I knew got treated to a sample of 3G, small problem was that the signal dropped out if you were moving faster than a walking pace! Let me just say, I'll believe it when I see it, not when some marketing department tells me...

Actually for normal user, is it necessary? I want the p800 but after reading the previous few, I start to have second thoughts

Neither are _necessary_, but they could both be a lot of fun.
My view is that when the P800 comes out later this year it will do lots of fun things, and provide PDA and phone functionality.
When 3G comes out, it'll do some cool stuff too, but it will probably be a lot flakier to start with.
Put it another way, I intend to get a P800 when I can, I am going to wait and see on 3G

i spoke to SE today and found out that the P800 will be delayed till the end of this year due to the fact that they are expanding the memory slott.
i am waiting for it....

the problem is if i sell my t68i i will to lose money. i had pay for the mobile and cam 770€
i had never see the original only to pictures.

Do u have actual email to back this up? a large number of sources from the various conventions and such over the past couple of months have all said the phone is on schedual. There have also been a large number of demo units lent to reviewers and the like (note the large number of links in this forum to independant reviewers and web masters with actual hands on photos of the phone not in front of any booth. These people would NEVER have been given a phone to play with if it wasnt ready to ship in the specified time frame. can anybody show an example of a hands on review of a product from a reputable company that didnt make its Q relase?)
I am UNBELIEVABLY excited about this phone and will honestly pay up to $800 USD to get one the second it comes out. I am not pre ordering thoguh cus i simply dont trust any place that will sell you something they dont have, before the market sets a price. If anybody knows about programing for symbian uiq or j2me, please drop me a line i would like to get started learning but i dont know where to start.
for those interested: the Symbian UIQ SDK is $995 from SE I tried to get them to send me a free educational version but they would not. I guess my next option is j2me, unfortuantly i do not have 1000 just to spend on codewarrior and the sdk for my mobile. They had there reasons for not sending it to me and they took the time to explain them so i am not bitter, and thinking of it i tihnk j2me may be a better platform (easier distrobution) but i would still like to write programs that coudl acess the phones on board features (MS Duo, camera, etc...)

I got my t68 last December, so if the P800 does come out in August, I'm stuck. I've got just over 3 months left on my t68 contract, before thinking of an upgrade.
What do I do? I'm sure many of you are thinking the same.
Do we splash out on a second handset, thus having 2 contracts to pay per month
(makes girlfriend very unhappy)
Or could we try and sell our handsets, and purchase a SIM free version? Expencive.
What other option is there??
Do Sony-Ericsson offer a part exchange deal?
How can I get a P800 when it is released, and not put my relationship on the rocks
??
Ideas?
