SE have invested $56 million in the symbian OS. It will be used in many future SE products.

I have to disagree, the screen on the S700 is absolutely magnificent, it is a thing of beauty!
I have yet to see a Nokia with a screen as good as that of the S700.
The S700's camera is also fantastic, every review I have read has consistently given the S700 higher marks than the competition.

If SE has produced mid range phone with symbian... definatly SE has nothing to loose and other brands has alot of some cathing up to do...

I am not in favour of SE releasing Series60 based mobiles. Miles Flint said in a recent interview that SE are planning to use UIQ3 to compete with mid-range Series60 smartphones.
By using UIQ3 SE will be able to maintain an air of uniqueness in a market awash with similar products, which will hopefully give them an edge.

indeed uiq3 would be much better then series60
but remeber that its SE we are talking about. it will take alot of time. and they'll probably screw up somewhere, like poor battery, bad designing, no MP cam, only MSD support, ...
i wonder if SE is going to show us something new and special these last months of the year. i hope so, cause otherwize...

I chose SE because of its connectivity, and such good example is their implementation of bluetooth. I use Pocket PC regularly for work and reading. Starting with T39 i already using bluetooth.
I tried few Nokia (at that time) and i get sick of their bluetooth implementation in :
a. 7650 - it was a hype at first release, but turns me down when i discover bluetooth can only use for data transfer.... Well it has bluetooth but u have to use cable handsfree???
b. 8910 - bloodily expensive casing - phone, bluetooth can be used for handsfree only... blah
All SE bluetooth-equiped phones have complete bluetooth services including File Transfer. Most nokia just provide serial connection and dial up.
And dont talk about infrared connection...... Some nokia (older) models only use infrared for PIM transfer only, it cannot except other files such as images, ringtones....
SE have their Quick Share implementation. Dont think it is just a new arrangement of menu and user interface. Quick Share do more than that. I transfer a 262 KB pic from S700i to T610 and Quick Share make its resolution and size smaller (become 45 KB). I do nothing. Just send the pic and the phone did that for me so it can fit into T610 screen and consume less memory. Same thing happen when i transfered the pic into T630.
I transfer the same pic into 9210i (IR) and 3660 (bluetooth). Both can receive it just fine but the file is still large and somewhat it cant be oppened. Any of you experience this?
I use MMS, and afaik SE has the best MMS implementation to present - especially they have the ability to add multiple pages in one message. Considering MMS message can transfer max 100 KB per message (network dependent) it is useful and more convenient to combine many files (pics, tones, text, etc) into one message. Even Nokia 6230 cannot do this, i have to send three pics three times.
Overall, I like the new design better. K500 is beautiful IMO. But i hate their first release design (T68i, t300 and P800). Too flashy, a bit girlish and the casing have washed out colors.
What I dislike from SE :
a. Message tones. Come on! Years have passed by since customer moan on T68i and you cant add that simple feature?? At least let us customized it???
b. Lack of Symbian phones in the middle segment. Symbian may not be useful to me (since i already use Pocket PC) but other user may think that the ability to add programs to your phone is not a bad thing.
c. 510 numbers!!!!! Ah come on SE! You use Sync ML as your data exchange standard and you wont allow to store more than 510 entry in Outlook contacts?
d. Japan technology.... Overall we know that SE Japan have the most advanced feature than the rest of the world. Why not transfer the technology to the rest of SE phones? S700 is a nice start but it is one year late than it predecessor (S505iS) in Japan. V800 is another good example. Hope to see more Japan tech in future phones.
e. Mophun.... a complete failure game system... The games are good IMO but SE mophun-equipped phones have the worse screen to made me really enjoy the game (T68i, T300. T610 is better though). Fortunately in recent phones release they put off the support.
f. Sony where are you? The only obvious sign of the technology merger is the design and the use of f***ingly expensive Memory Stick Media. We need more Sony's technology in camera (S700 maybe a good start), screens, games (SEGA embedded games perhaps?), tones, etc. Not just flashy 'ghost commercial' at 007, charlie angels, etc. Though i kinda like the 'phone screenshot' in those...
g. Pricing strategy is bad. Sony want to (i guess) positioning SE as a premium mobile manufacturer but the product turn over is too fast. T610 dropped more than third of its introduction price less than 2 months.
Just my opinion as a regular user.

I choose Sonyericsson because its simply the best compared to other phone models. First i had T310 then after 2 months i sold it to my friend. then i bought T300, i used it for 6 months then i sold it to my aunt. Then i bought T630. Then i decided to get back the T300 to my aunt and now i have 2 SE phones and im proud of it.

Another thing i like isits connectivity to other devices such as PC, Handy and other devices that has infrared. Unlike samsung...limited availability.
