Yes i understand the GPRS is a very capable technology. Im just hoping that the Hutch Guys dont find this game. Its not that i dont want to pay more but not at the rate of 50 paise per kb. That is absolute madness...
Very correct man...i can gladly pay upto 200pm for unlimited igprs but this 50p/kb is well as you put it...madness!!

Any thoughts on my earlier question?. Infrared vs Bluetooth?.
Will it improve my speed any better?. I know for sure infrared is slow but im eager to know how you connect your phone to the PC.
I had edited one of my earier posts providin answer to your question since esato wont let me make 2 posts in succession...check it out!!

@week.. On that infrared vs bluetooth thing.. I think the browsing speeds will be same.. I'm saying this because i connect using bluetooth and a friend of mine using infrared.. The speed difference is very little.. With bluetooth basically it is a matter of convenience i.e.. No line of sight stuff required and the range is better.. But for file transfers bluetooth is a much better deal

But doesnt the speed also depend on what kind of IR device we use?.
A USB 2.0 compliant device can transmit data at a higher rate than a USB 1.1 compliant IR to PC adapter. I have the latter one and that i feel is the problem. anyways its always good to experiment..???

Even USB 1.1 standard has a max speed of 1.5MBps ie 12Mbps which is more than the max irda speed so the only bottleneck is your actual gprs speed...modem connection should not cause any performance loss.

You maybe right, but the problem is that my Infrared adapter is very slow cos i can see that during file transfers between PC and Mobile.

That is actually not your adapter's fault, the se file manager software is provides worthless speeds, use some alternate software dataimanager or fma for transfers.
