just got an email reply from SE regarding my query on the release date for P800 and here' the reply:
"Dear Consumer,
Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Customer Care Center.
The P800 is planned to be released sometime this fall. At the present I cannot give you any exact date.

Opinion: With reference to your press release stating an expected official release date of your P800 to be in the Q3 of 2002, is this still the case or is the release likely to be delayed into Q4 due to the memory card and MP3?
If so, could you give me an estimated timeframe?

So afterall, it seems as though SE will release as scheduled sometime in Q3. In addition, there was an article on
www.mobil.nu stating that Sony has released a couple of "Clie" models in Asia prior to its official launch....could naturally be the case here as well given its "official launch" first in December....
Well, I hope so...
On another note, T300 is being released end of the month in the Netherlands. Shortly after that we are all hoping for the big one!

Well. I suppose it's a logical argument that a Launch campain would be at the product launch. But product launches need not be when they become available. I don't know what SE calls the compain on the T68i that was running a couple of weeks ago. But it IS the only public launch the product have had. So it may be the product launch to SE even tho it has been available for months.

I agree, i think the official campaign does not have to be synchronized with the availability of the product. When i bought my t68m October 2002, many shops told me that the t68m would not be released before January 2002... eventhough the t68m was in my pocket. The applications developed during the "codetocash" contest will (most probably) be available for download through the internet.

I posted that the P800 is due to be £499 UK WITH contract in the UK, but I was ridaculed and laughed at 4 weeks ago........I suppose the fact I work for Vodafone UK did not bother them, now that the price is published in the latest Carphone Warehouse Catalouge people might actually believe.

Like i said...i work for CPW...my info is from our SE account manager...see my previous posts on cost...consider this, an Ipaq costs around £500, all similar devices such as the Hanspring Treo or the XDA are roughly the same offline...the P800 will be too, and then like the other devices, subsidised by the networks on contract...£330...
