Nice review, but there are some faults in the review;
1. "176 X 144 resolution, 65,000 color LCD display"
No, it's an 176x220 262k colors. Same as K750i.
2. "camera lens cover which protects the lens but does not start the camera application when opened"
No, camera application starts, as on K750i.

if you have a w800 then do a review, if not then until more info comes out we must take notice of someone who has one and has take the time and effort to do a full review.
the screen may only be 65k as they may be using the same screen as the k700 to reduce costs, theres no guarentee its the same as the k750 screen.
i m sure we will know more over the coming weeks as many networks are showing the phone as coming soon so i would expect it to be in shops by august

I don't do reviews. I don't have the time, and as the product isn't finished, a review wouldn't be fair.
I just want to correct simple disinformation. The screen IS the same as on K750i. This would acctualy be quite simple to guess. Remember how T610 couldn't use T630 software, cause the have different displays? K750i can be flashed with W800i software...
Also, it is acctualy official what display it is equiped with, have a look at the official SE site!

About the lens cover; It may be that in the software BengalBoy got (R1H012), the function wasn't implemented. However, production units will be shipped with later firmware, R1L002 and they will have same functionality as on K750i, with active lens cover starting camera application.

@Ibinco

His efford is fine and appreciated. But it is more about showing off rather actually informing people.
But I want to read about a phone review and not looking at the phone between the boobs and ass of any given chick.
Can I read this review at my work? No I had to wait to go home because everybody would think that I am looking at porn sites.

@slass
i dont doubt that you are correct all im saying is until the handset is out even the se white papers dont mean much remember the k700 the white paper and website said it only had 32mb of ram but on release it had 41mb so se can make changes up till the last minute
also at the moment we only have 1 hands on review available and so till more come along all we can do is discuss the findings he has laid out

I cant beleive what Im reading here,

why on earth are people taking for granted that just because someone tries the phone, then states some technical specs (176x144x65k lcd which is quite obviously a misunderstanding by the reviewer) that this is the unforgiven gods truth ? He obviously somehow mixed up the videoresolution with the display.

Every official information available state the display is 176x220x262k just like K750

One man tries a phone, writes one line of wrong information, and all of the sudden every official information available is out the window ?

If he had made another typo saying that it had a 7mp camera would you have taken this for granted also ?

BB did not make any revolutionairy "findings", he simply just tried the phone, peoples idea of these socalled "findings" about LCD is based on one line of txt in a review which is either a typo or something that BB read wrong in the specs. Most likely he was simply to occupied taking pictures of the kittens while reading the specs, and got it wrong.

Do people actually think that BB is able to determine technical details about display just by looking at it ?? Nowhere in the review are there any suggestions as to how he came to this conclusion, nowhere does it say that he got some secret information revealed by S//E.
Did he run the phone through some laboratory test to reveal the lesser amount of colors ? Did he disassemble the phone to examine the hardware ? No, all he did was get the phone in his hand for a tryout.

Do you really think S//E while trying very hard to keep the Walkman brand exclusive, with a bigger pricetag, would equip the phone with a lesser quality screen than its sisterphone K750 ? That would be a very stupid thing to do.

This is the worst case of how a chicken became a flock of hens I have ever witnessed.

people can form there own opininons when the phone is more readly available. at the moment as ive pointed out we only have one review from someone who has the phone
he may have made genuine mistakes in his review its easily done, but until we get some more people with test units then this is the only info along with se websites we can deal with
there has been much speculation over the w800 and were it will have changes when realised.
in the next few weeks im sure all the facts will be out and until then people have a chose to trust the review or stick to the info on se website.
i for one will be waiting till the phone out and people are getting them and then waiting to see what peoples findings are in the real world with the finished article.
till then im happy to read any review or listen to any ideas made up, mistake or otherwise

I noticed that it was true about the lcd. The quality of the lcd compared to K750i is inferior, too bad really. I would have appreciated a picture of the K750i beside the W800i, to see how the lcd works out.

What makes You believe that? Different Brightness settings perhaps?
K750i and W800i use identical LCD diplays. period.

If you read his review he states what I am saying. He states it in the conclusion where he compares the two devices.

I really, and I mean really, want to believe that the LCD are the same, but for now I believe what BB says.

Hehe.... Thanks to all of you who joined my site and read the review. I was alerted back to this discussion by a member of my site so I want to clarify things as best I can on the LCD of the W800i

1. The specs I gave you for the screen are those related to me by my source at SE prior to testing and receiving the W800i. First of all, thsse guys do make some mistakes on these newly released devices. He was very quick to point out that a "Manual" is not yet available on the W800i and he is just doing his best to answer my questions, however, I also know that Esato Members are the most rabid and educated followers of SE phones, so I don't doubt that some of you may be correct about the screen resolution and supported colors. But, I compared it to the K700i and S700i myself.... It is a very "high resolution" screen, very similar to both, but absolutely impossible for me to say its 65K or 262K based on a "eyeball" comparison. The K700 is 65K and the s700 is 262K and the W800i looks as good as either without the size of the S700 screen.

2. I was also told by a close friend and SE "Service Center" rep that the W800i "DEFINITELY" does not use the same LCD as the K750i. You would think it would be a superior or the same screen???? but according to him the K750i has a better quality LCD. He referred to the "refresh rate" being the superior quality. I will also try to followup with more specific differences and information for you on that. By the way if you are a "Wireless GentleMan's Club" member, live in the U.S. and want to flash your K750i to the W800i firmware, my site will be running a promotion of $5 off for any member who wants this done... It will void your warranty and will disable synch functions until the W800i Software Suite is released.

3. My site is different from Esato, HowardForums, etc... I use what I consider to be "Very Attractive" ladies to model these "Bleeding Edge" proto-types and will always do so....thats why its called a "Wireless GentleMan's Club"!!! So, don't expect anything to change and if thats offensive to you...well....wait a few weeks and read about your favorite device somewhere else...right now...I've got the only reviews of the W800i and the Motorola V6 PeBl and am currently using other models so new I can't even talk about them on the site yet. Besides....when your at work...... you should work.... not browse internet sites....hehe.... Your employer might give you a raise if you increase your productivity and do your gadget thing at home on your time.....

Once again, Esato is a very "HardCore SE" site, it will remain so with alot of you knowing more about the specs of a device than the actual employees at SE I deal with... to them its just a job and a product until the next one comes along.... for us gadget freaks its more than that and to that end I will try and correct information that is incorrect as it becomes available to me.

For now though, I'm standing by the review, but by no means am I saying it is "Written in Stone"....

Thanks for keeping me on my toes, I will do my best to clarify and provide the final and correct specs on the screen and bluetooth as I learn them.
