I'd say the mini was almost in a class of it's own. I'd be happy with the way things are right now, Z2 Z2s. Z Ultra s, Z Mini and a couple of tablets.

+1. Even if it doesn't sound very original, it's much better than to pretend (maybe too harsh) the next Xperia Z flagship after just a half year.

Oh, and in Maia we trust .

+2 adding the s makes clear it's an update. Not something new.
I would prefer if manufacturers wouldn't fload us with 100 models each year. It's impossible to keep up.

What's wrong with updated flagships? As long as they get the support a flagship product should, what's the problem?

@Away
there is good and bad in everything, but since most people don't buy a phone every half a year i will write the bad:
less anticipation. updates not as big. less time to focus, optimize and test the device before release (?) - i said that before but someone here said that it's not a problem because sony have different teams working on each phone long before it's release, but wouldn't more working resources on one product instead of two bring more complete product for release time? it's kind of sucks to be early adopter cause then you wait for firmware updates to fix this and that problem... more focus on one device - less problems (?)

OT:

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - OFFICIAL Trailer!

It's gonna be a big year for Sony Pictures again, after a disappointing 2013.

Now, back to topic, about maia's info, nah I doubt it.

so only one ultra and mini per year!

also seams like less mid range and low range in the second half of this year so maybe they will mainly be released first half of the year.

I'm glad though if there are less devices made per year so more effort can be put into a few really great devices. I think sony would also make more money that way because each product would be for sale for longer.

unfortunately that is not how Japan works especially when it Sony has gain significant ground in that market and also become one of their main market. They said it before that smartphones needs to come and go like fashion trend, almost like a seasonal thing. Which is why the xperia A was so popular, even more than the Z. So realistically they probably need 3-4 different mid end products a year to keep things fresh, and flagship may not necessary be the top seller, mid end with decent specs and lower price point like the Xperia A was the main attraction before those many of those customers probably switch to a new device every year or year and a half. Spending less and upgrading more frequently probably more feasible for them financially. So they probably need 3 mid end and 2 high end a year. A ultra like phablet maybe for H1 and 5" for H2, maybe a Z1F like flagship to replace one of the mid end, and other 2 mid end to fill in the gap between.

When it comes to Sony pictures its always disappointing.. Sony pictures is bleeding money so they are going to cut down on that part of the company. Ontopic: Don´t say you doubt it without saying why Maia´s Info has been proven correct many times before

^And maia also had some, or a lot, of wrong info before. For me, I doubt that Sony would continue on with that naming scheme.

The Z1S will probably be to the Xperia Z1 what the arc S was to the Xperia arc. They couldn't call the Xperia S refresh SS, but SL. With that exception, the Z1S would mean going back to the roots .
