I've often said that the occasional disaster would liven the place up a bit! Closest I've had was a Tsunami scare 2 years ago.

Seen quite a few phone here at Unitec: W200, W880, P1i. No-one aware of Esato or MPE though. Most owners I've met agree that thier phone is amazing but very few have any idea of all the things it can do.

Just yesterday I recieved an email on behalf of my wife, I copied the email text and pasted it into a txt message and sent it to my wife's Samsung. Easy.

Yeah, I've seen a few SE phones at Canterbury University. A girl in my class has a W200i and another used to have a K750i. They don't give a crap though, its just a phone to them.

Speaking of disasters, tomorrow Christchurch is expecting the worst storm in 20 years or something! Should be exciting!

If it looks bad enough before you leave for work, pretend you're sick or your house got flooded or something... Haha.

@carkitter: Just thought you may interested to know that Expert Infotech is listing the W980i at $1204. It may be worth watching cause normally their prices are pretty low, so it should go down soon I think.

Also thought I'd chuck this in, from the Vodafone online store:

I know you guys arent fans of trademe but the W980 is only $800 brand new on there right now!!! Screw paying $1200 for it!!!! Thats a really decent price if you ask me, especially on a recent release. Even id buy it if i didnt have an N82.

Im gonna be bringing back a C902 with me in Nov. Do you think there will be much interest? Is SE picking up in NZ yet? If not I will just use it myself! haha. I might still have the option to change it for a W980 but yea.

@soane28: I think its only me that's not keen on trademe. I think that's where carkitter got his two V800s from so I don't think that's any problem.

@JiSm: Nah Nokia is still as popular as ever. The C902 looks like it may arrive fairly soon but probably at around $1000 or over even. It may be worth bringing one in to make a quick buck, but I don't know if anyone will realise how good a phone it is.

@all: Hows the storm? It hasn't hit Christchurch yet, but its definitely rolling in. Skies are grey, raining off and on...

@soane28

You're right, that is a tempting price. Plemix + GST on arrival = $1K+ so those TradeMe prices are sharp if genuine.

@M-O

The weather up here consists of rain, wind, more rain, the usual ATM.

Anyone signed up for www.vodafonevoice.co.nz ?
I was txted a link from Vodafone Customer Services and just signed up to it today. It's an online Customer Focus Group which provides feedback on Products and Services and helps shape future Vodafone services. I've been involved with Focus Groups in the past and have enjoyed giving my opinion on Coffee, Muesli Bars and Sports drinks. The latest email newsletter is here.
The registration form didn't work with Opera Browser 9.51 though so I had to open up IE7...

Looks like I got my wish: http://www.nzherald.co.nz/sec[....]y.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10524292

Torbay is where I live. Lingham Crescent is just up the road from where I grew up; I used to deliver pamphlets there as a kid. Glamorgan Dr is where I lived in 2005/6. I'll see if I can check out the damage.
