Yeah I'd go along with that; there would be no reason to be offended.
If people relish in loadsa nightlife or if a person's a self-confessed mall rat or whatever, EL would depress. I can understand and appreciate how your connection must feel. Only one big shopping mall (Vincent Park, which is currently expanding again) and one decent retail park in Beacon Bay. Yes of course there are other smaller places of note dotted around EL, but really nothing major to write home about.
The kilometres of stunning beaches either side of EL has, however, an appeal all their own, and no cold Atlantic water or Benguela current to freeze that totterjie off.
Horses for courses..here I am on the outskirts of a huge city of millions and many times I miss the not-so-happening eMonti.

@ Francois,
I see you mentioned System Of A Down (SOAD.) They played at the Download Festival by the Donington Park race track and the frenzy of pogo-type dancing that spontaneously ensued amongst the hordes when they played 'Bounce' was something to experience.
The 'Toxicity' album is a masterpiece, but it's 'Sugar' from their first album that really got me going. I'm really not into their latest two offerings though...Daron needs to leave his vocal contributions out and focus entirely on his guitar work...Serj definitely is THE only one for that job in that ever-eccentric band.

No. That music is heinous stuff; the repetition of it causes more damage than the acid does. And people spend days there tripping on any psychedelic chemical they can lay their earthy hands on, while forgetting to eat their vegan sandwiches or drink any organic water (yes they claim there is such a thing as organic water). When they have successfully dehydrated on the dance floor come day 3 they blame it on the 'methane gas' from the cars (3 days of trance music causes brain damage). Dont listen to trance.

System of a Down. I dont know that there's 1song of theirs that i dislike. I swear system can cater for every state of mind. I'd have gone on homicidal rampage had it not been for SOAD.

Tool is also pretty good. And ill nino, awesome...

@brix, not a matie. They lost my application and let me know very late. And the law dept closed its doors early.

So are you studying for law or did you not get in in time?

I got a soft spot for bands like SOAD and Rage Against the Machine because i seem to like my political bands. If not bands, people also, thats where Bono comes in. What a chap. Reading that book of Michka Assayas, the interview with Bono. The man has a brain, and better, he uses it. Some of his thoughts are really profound.

Then there is Rammstein:when that America song came out i was rolling on the floor it was so funny. I love these rips at americans.

Which brings me to mindsets. I bought the latest issue of SL magazine for there was a Nightmares on Wax track on. My experience with these magazines is that they make mindsets. All good and well what they do, but sometimes i think things like that kills free thinking. But that is just me rambling once again. Sleepy time!

An afrikaans vodacom add? My word, and you still ask why people listen to Slipknot? They get driven to it by bad advertising, especially afrikaans adds...lol!

LMAO 786KBR,
Yeah that's the song 'Surfacing' off their first album. That's why I'm selective to the point that, although I dig the raw energy of Surfacing, the blatantly nihilistic rant in the song has rather demoted it in my rankings...I'd regard myself as far more positive individual than what Slipknot's Corey Taylor was spewing out when they recorded it.
Funny enough, in their 3rd album, The Subliminal Verses, there's a couple of really lovey-dovey mello songs on the album as well!!!

No, I'm not going to try and justify anything of Slipknot, suffice to say that I feed off the barrage of powerful, structured steamroller of sound that they are able to produce...

Variety is the spice of life; last night I ended up listening to er...very different music in the Wancollection...from Cat Stevens to PM Dawn, from Talvin Singh to The Cure.

Weird Wanqa...

You guys may find this funny, BUT i like calmer music... INstumental stuff, gregorian, era, enya etc. Katie melua too, thats about the most music i have on my pc. I also like usic where you can actually hear what the artist sings, and i hate metal etc... And dont even talk bout rap, thats not music, thats something else.

LOL Rhino, I couldn't find that too funny, ... I've got Enya's greatest hits and her 'The Celts' album loaded on my PC as well.
I presume you've got a collection of other 'chilled' stuff like Enigma and Kenny G too then...but Katie Melua is a bit too 'mal-soet' for me.

@ Amawanqa, The Cure, enjoy their music...

I am also into the quiet stuff, but balance, like Wanqa said keeps life interresting. Funny, sometimes, I find tons of energy from depressing music like Dido...Metal is in another class: I like, but I balance it out highly...I know how it affects me, so I regulate it.

Calm stuff? I also enjoy Enya and Enigma and stuff like that, but concerning all types of music, I can only listen to so much, then I need either something else or quiet...
