@ Francois,
This fellow pale-face will try explain:
The hip-hop star that brix is referring to, MF Doom, has a song called Rapp Snitches. (brix had some lyrics from this song in his signature some time back.) The song focusses at the whole pseudo-bad-boy gangsta rapper wannabes, all the false pretenders. (brix, correct me if I'm wrong)
The song featured Mr. Fantastik in it as well. This is also the name of one of the fellow Marvel comic characters, a member of the Fantastic Four. ( There was a movie recently about the Fantastic Four...Jessica Alba as Invisible Girl etc.)
Dr. Doom, in comic world, is also the arch enemy of Mr. Fantastic and the rest of the Fantastic Four... oh hell, I'm getting too deep into all this.

@ wanqa, thank you so much...clears up a lot for me. Not big on comics, or not that big...I know some of the basics of the superman storylines, a little of the x-men range, (age of apocalypse series was brilliant! The only comics I really read as I got my hands on them 2 yrs ago) But I understand the bit around the fantastic four....I have to mention that I am not big on my rap and hip-hop, I do enjoy some performers though...Just don't keep up with all the colabirations and peace outs between the fellaz, it is just too much to keep track of...

Got new Eddie Izzard....Going to be good...

@da wanqsta: I couldf not have explained it better. Too many people are just faking it, rap musicians seem to have perfected the art. BTW, did you know MF DOOM's father is South African? DOOM's real name is Daniel Dumile.

You guys should head on over to the forums at prodigits, the kids are still throwin their toys out the cot at Vodacom for cutting them off "free" data.

I finally subscribed to a MyMeg250 data bundle and hopefully my bill would be less then the R700 it was last month.

@ psycho, yes she is smart, but i am not retarded:) we are a good match in that. We can talk for hours, and we can sit in silence for hours. I want someone who is intellectually challenging. I get bored with the pop chicks, the girls with nothing but a black hole between their ears, they annoy me when it comes to personal capacity. When finding someone you need someone that inspires you to be better. I am not looking for someone i can just be comfortable with and spend the rest of my life trying to beat the Van der merwes. That is the rodent race. And it goes both ways in a relationship.

On a different tack altogether, thought i'd mention this- i recently bought a tiny telescope from a guy in Piet Retief. It can be concealed in the palm, has a brilliant range, perfect for when i go shooting, or just river-watching with the kids at school. Anyway, it has a microscope attachment, which is great since i use it at school as well, in my science classes. It's a first too, since the school is "so arm soos 'n kerkmuis" in the truest sense of the word... In reply to an email from the seller, i mentioned this, and took some pix of the kids using it to study fungi, the composition of a leaf, etc etc. The upshot is that the dude was so moved by this that he promptly posted another two scopes down to PE, with a note that he too attended such a school. His first contact with a microscope was when he started reading for his B.Sc degree! It made me incredibly happy to know that there are still people of such calibre in our country...

On a much lighter note, heard a wicked joke on the radio this morning. It would appear that the Rev.Chikane has fled the country, not long after Adriaan Vlok did the foot-washing thing. Apparently he'd been told that PW wanted to go one better, and was planning on giving him a bath

@ kryptik, that is so cool!there are people out there with good hearts. I have worked with kids from poor areas, and at the moment our company is doing the network for a rich@$$ school. Started talking to a teacher on saturday and she was complaining about something computer related, taking too long or something. I quickly whipped things in perspective for her, as my brother gives computer science at a less well off school. That put her in her place. We take things for granted when we have as much as we do. Nothing like that article about Congo that i posted the link to the other day to spell it out to us, how lucky we are, how well off we are.

lol!My brother just told me he is taking one of my sisters friends to the matric farewell. This chick reminds me a little of the chick from Muriel's wedding. She aint going to get anything right with him. He is single and he is beyond fussy, so i sit back with the popcorn and watch and hose myself(my local slang for wetting myself laughing!) This chick dunno what she in fo!lol!

Matric farewells. Went to quite a few myself for some reason. I went alone to my own, my choice. Did not want to go with someone from snob paradise, and the guys were not allowed to bring people from outside, so i figured, i go alone before i choose an inmate. The proposing chicks did as far as i am concerned end up going with good chaps. My favourite matric farewell was with this coloured chick, limo and all. And boy was she hot! Never knew a male that knew who she was that did not think so. Me and my current gf were together back then, and she was fine with it. It is good. Trust is important.

@ da brixsta,
Firstly, there seems to be some kinda (geek) pattern forming here..I also didn't bother to go to my matric farewell...!!! (although I did attend 2 a few years after...overrated, to say the least...)

As for the UK, they do have a similar thing as well, which is a 6th Form Leavers' Ball or, since it too has become so incredibly Americanised, more commonly referred to as The Prom...right down to the fancy cars and limo's dropping them off, the girls plastered in make-up and the guys sporting tuxedos and generous amounts of hair gel etc. etc.

In the UK, primary school goes up to Year 6 (11-year olds). Then they go to secondary school until they are 16. From there they go to '6th form' or college, where they do their 'A' Levels (their equivalent of our matric) when they're 18.
Interestingly, the 6th Form schools/ colleges around here have their Leavers' Ball/ Prom on their very last day of school (in late July), well after they've finished all their exams etc.
