@ least everytime i went it was quite a chilled affair. Sometimes quite eventfull. The one i went to the headmaster did not make it. Later i found out that she took the schools money and ran off with it. It was a private school. On that particular one a chick that kinda happened to be around my life up to a few years before that happened to be in that school. Wow did she turn out to be a babe! I am talking wonderbra material here. How do i know? Somewhere near the end of the evening she happened to stand in a group with us, remove her dress straps, and showed the world a beautiful thing...the wonderbra:) later that evening at the afterparty everyone got drunk, including the teachers: you dont see that everyday! Seen a lot of drunk teachers on camp, but not together with the kids! lol!

Oh the stories we can tell...the things we have seen...

The big reason i go: (seinfeld here:)

There is going to be food? You mean there is going to be lots of food, free to eat? And drinks? I gotta be a part of this! I want to be a part of this! I need to be a part of this!what must i do to be a part of this? .....
(Comedic silence)
....I can wear that!

One of my favourite bits of Jerry. It is the halloween thing he does. If you guys can get a hold of it, it is well worth it, this coming from a big british comedy fanatic.

Taking about the geek pattern, saw a thing on rocketboom a while ago about a 'geeks prom'. Sorry, but those were not geeks, they were nerds! Just imagine an event like that with a bunch of ugly nerds dancing to crap, having lights shining on the floor in binary code, and having a talent show in the middle of it...No, it is not the next Friday the 1101'th movie, it is the geek ball!lol!

It's one Americanism that I hope dies a slow and quiet death...I'm just glad that the media totally ignores matric balls because they're totally silly.

Mnet was launched in the same month as my matric farewell. My buddies and i spent the evening at the beach instead, getting quietly plastered on beer, brandy and God knows what else. We'd been saving up for ages to hire a chalet, buy meat and booze, etc. If only we'd bought those bloody shares instead....

Lol@kryptic. Shame. Shame shame shame.

I dont think males have a right to whine about matric dances; emotionally, physically, socially, it costs them nothing. I, on the other hand could buy a house with all the money i've spent on dresses shoes makeup hair for the damn things - and that was before i got to matric myself. The odd thing is they are so terrible; i hated each one - i just go for the afterparty.

The convention serves a vital function though; a matric farewell is a rite of passage.

@ psychonymphe, Yeah, true: it's like, this is the first time you will officially see all of your school peers pissed out of their minds...and all of them together...It is kinda a rite of passage....lol!

For me the thing is almost sort of like a wedding: the guy does not have to do much, because the chick has been dreaming about it all her life...I mean, if a (straight) guy had to organise a wedding, what would happen? There would be a big screen TV to screen the rugby with big cooler bags full of beer, and food? Why? Just get biltong!(Just on the sideline, if I had to organise a wedding, no one would know what to expect, not even me. Since I am not a big fan of sport, there probably won't be any big screen tv's...sorry to those who will get invites!)

The idea in that is, some things are just better when a girl organises it: Girls seem to dream about their matric farewells and weddings, so it's kinda like the guy says: "This is your dream: run with it! Just let me know what colour tie will match your dress, so that we are not mismatched...." You do not want a mismatched tie...

@ da brixsta,
Firstly, there seems to be some kinda (geek) pattern forming here..I also didn't bother to go to my matric farewell...!!!

A geek pattern indeed, as i never went to mine either, HAD MORE IMPORTANT STUFF to do, was not interested in any of the girls in my town, not to mention my school (fuzzy as i am).

Brings up another question. How many matric farewell babies are born every year after? And how many matric farewell babies are aborted every year, i know bout 3 babies born due to our mf and i was not one of the populars so it could be more.

On another subject, i have been offered a job @ MTN for a larger salary than i currently get, BUT i have to work every saturday till 4PM and Sunday to 2PM.

Decisions decisions...

@ Rhino8, do it for your mother! lol! Congrats on the job offer....You know, doing it for a year or two could be good. Just to make money of course. But it depends what you want out of life. It might be the one thing that you need, but it might be the one thing that screws up your life as it is, obviously depending on the job and what they expect from you. So you have to weigh up the pro's and the cons. Any advice from us will need more specifics....But I do hope you make the right choice...

Should we really be talking about geek patterns when francoislr just said "my word" twice in one post?

Having said that, I AM the guy who has been posting here for 2 years and still isn't mentioned on the introduction post, so I best keep my gob shut.
