Congratulations to him!
And congratulations to you... You finally won't have to drive him everywhere now!

no, thats just the theory.. the practical is still to come and then yeah... no more dad's taxi for him! although there's still the matter of my daughter who will start all this next year
Its strange here in UK. In oz you do the theory and only when you do that do you get your learners permit and can start driving, which kinda makes sense.
here you get your learners permit and can begin driving. then sometime later you do your theory test, that can be after a few hours of driving or when you're ready for the practical (though the theory has to be done before you can do the practical of course)

Yeah its fairly similar to Australia here. You do the theory to get your learners, then can begin practicing driving with a full-licensed driver. Then you do a practical to get your restricted so you can drive on your own but can take no passengers unless they have their full license. Then you do one more practical which is somewhat more difficult to get your full license.
Ah well, not long until you can retire the taxi service!

Having worked at a footie stadium; I would say leave your wallet, watch, keys, phone, kids and anything valuable at home, take a bullet-proof vest and tell everyone that your other half is bad ass cop. Other than that, enjoy the game.
