Multitouch in a forthcoming update is yet to be confirmed or denied so what's the point of harping on about it? We don't know, we can only speculate so until it's officially confirmed let's put it on ice.

Sealover, you must stop writing in this threat! I checked again the threats about Aino, Satio, Yari and some others, and saw that your behaviour is the same everywhere! I can't understand how do you live on this world with such a pessimistic look about the things around you! I'm tired of reading your stupid posts, without any new information in them, only "that's horrible", "I don't like", "the lack of something is unbelievable" and so on! You flooded the whole thread with you opinion, trying to say that X10/Aino/Satio/Yari/X2 and others are disappointment and useless devices!

Sorry for the offtopic, you couldn't resist.

Here is another good topic in the Developer World - http://developer.sonyericsson.com/community/thread/50008

1 - Double Tap works BUT in Safari for several sites like Esato's home page double-tap doesn't work to enlarge the posts on the right side much while in Portrait mode (it does in landscape). This is just smart rendering so multi-touch opposite pinch works well. You NEED to use it for 30days to understand that you're talking out your derriere.

2 - GAMING works perfectly.
some games you NEED to see on youtube or more so try for yourself:

That's your opinion and this is mine, after using the iPhone for quite a while.
Me and several folks that I know prefer to use their phones one handed as much as we can. Multi-touch zoom, which is supposed to make life easier just adds an artificial twist (See what I did there?) to things and force you to use two hands. I'm sorry, I can see it being useful on a big ass table like the Surface. Just not on a teeny weeny cellphone screen. Even the N900's rotation gesture feels more natural as it's akin to using a rotary knob. And you can still do it one handedly.

Double-tap works just fine on Esato with the S60 browser, btw. I'm sorry Safari fudges it up.

...and don't even get me started on multi-touch games. They are so overhyped, it's not even funny. Can you recreate a Tekken-DR on psp experience on a multi-touch only phone? I think not. You're confusing the responsiveness of the screen for efficient gameplay, when it's not. Not for extended sessions. One NEEDS a set of tactile controls for that and no screen can match that "feel".

Would I use it if it was available? Sometimes.
Is it ABSO-EFFIN-SEALOVER-LUTELY essential that a phone should have multi-touch? Not really.
Is it ABSO-EFFIN-SEALOVER-LUTELY essential that a phone should have multiTASKING? Well, duh.

Point is, there are far more essential features that a phone must have and the X10 has them ALL. Multi-touch is way down the totem pole on that list. Jesusphone users compromise on essential features so that they can "twirl things around" and all that. This is way less of a compromise than that.

It's not like it ISN'T getting multi-touch ever, is it?

Thank you! This is exactly how I feel. Especially on the game factor. No buttons, no buy. And its also another reason why I hate touchscreen phones to an extent. The lack of a keyboard of sorts really puts me off, cause last time I checked phones have buttons. I'm of course going to have to get used to it as sooner or later the best phones will have touchscreen only but whatever. The point is that as Synn said there are features on the iPhone that are small and uneeded that compare to features on phones which surpass it by a mile.

Back on topic now....

Personally, I don't care about it at all.
I would not really use it anyway since it's much less comfortable
than double tap...
But it's just me maybe.

Anyway curious to see what Android on X10 will really offer
in functionality, browser, office etc...
While getting X2 myself...

No it is not funny .... it is their OPINION and point of view.. You can't obligate people to like or dislike sth.You are curious about office... I am not.. i trust SE on that... but i am not calling you funny or sad.... cause i respect that..Sad is watching SE going from the 3rd global market position to 6th ..... THAT IS SAD!

Sealover, have you ever considered Motorola Droid?
It has the speed, compass, display, multitouch and Android 2.0.
I have been thinking of one myself since I prefer physical keyboard but in Sweden where I live mostly, there wont be any retailer selling Motorola Droid, at least not the usual ones I get my phones from.

No i hate motorola's design.. and after all x10 screen , if we believe Amir has 16m and multitouch capabilities.. so i hope to make an upgrate soon...
