If those leaked S6 images are real you can say for sure that Samsung is evolving in terms of design, something you can't say from Sony. Just take a look at the Xperia Z line and you won't see any major differences, heck the leaked Z4 reminds me of the Z2. I don't say it's looking bad, just boring. Sony hasn't to say Goodbye to the OmniBalance design, but keep evolving it like Apple does with the Iphone. Repositioning some elements isn't enough. Use different materials, colors, shapes, make the damn bezels smaller!!! Just give the damn device a new look with a kinda familiar touch.

iphone6 is pretty ugly if you ask me. the previous iphones looked better
I still remember people can't really differentiate between the last few SGS, then now supposedly a copycat. is this the evolution you are looking for?

I was hoping that Z4's top and bottom bezels would be shorter but the leak picture suggest the opposite. If Sony could just decrease the Z4's length to 142 mm while maintaining the width and thickness of Z3, it would not be that bad. I love the design of Z3, except for the bezel. It has been couple of Z-generations and still top and bottom bezels remain too big. Of all the elements of phones design that Sony could copy from iphone, why the bezels?

Also, the glass should be ditch. Metal is the new trend and it is going to be for the next couple of years. So Sony should really follow. It would give Z4 a fresh look, at least in terms of the materials use for it.

@xyz Some devices with slim bezels/high body-sreen ratio. Each device looks unique.
Sad part: It's not like Sony never had a Z-line device with slimmer bezels...

I think the bezel problem with the Z3 is the fact the corners a fairy square in comparison to let's say the S5, iPhone 6 and the M8 but actually the Z3 has a better screen to body ratio than all other flagships, in fact it's pretty much only the LG G3 that has a better ratio (of phones with released worldwide) than the Z3.

Z3 - 70.9%
S5 - 69.6%
M8 - 66.7%
IP6 - 65.8%
930 - 70.9%
G3 - 75.3%

As you can see the screen to body ratio of the Z3 is better than all but one other flagship phone released in 2014 and the fact it's IP68 certified (which does increase bezel size) also has the largest camera sensor and stereo speakers and battery capacity it really is a good job from Sony's engineers.

^ My intention by uploading the above image was to show Xyz that slimming down bezels don't have to mean loosing uniqueness. Those seen devices have relatively slim bezels but look different, you won't confuse them.
I don't care about screen to body ratios of SGS or M8 (IP6 has its own dimension ). If those names companies aren't able to deliver devices with a small footprint then they should maybe think of a new design team since there are enough companies able to produce such devices. I'm not asking for a edge-to-edge phone, just for a bit slimmer bezels. Comparing Z1C with Z3C you can clearly see how the design has evolved. You have the typical Xperia look in a much nicer package. That's all I'm asking for the Z4.

^^ Everyone got different preferences.
one thing for sure:
1. sony design language is slimmest device possible>rest, just like apple, and it won't change with z4 as we see.
2. if they could make a 7.3 mm thin device (z3) with smaller bezel i'm sure they would make it happen but it just not possible because of the internals size and possibly due to other considerations.
3. i would be surprised if they even reduce 0.2-0.3 mm more from the profile because 7.3mm is a great achievement considering the internals.

Yeah, ZL's bezels were the best! I wish they made a new phone on its basis. Just slightly updated its design and made a metal body.

Sony Xperia E2003/E2033 mid-ranger with 64-bit chipset uncovered in benchmark results. I wonder if this is a new version of the E4 leaked a while ago as that was a early prototype, besides the screen size the specs are pretty much the same.

looks like another flop to me, qHD still in 2015? Should be 720p minimum for mid range. How much do they even save really, 5 bucks? I know they can be trying to make the Z3C looks more compelling but you are just shooting yourself in the foot when other low end phones are using much higher res panels. Screen quality is a huge factor when people are checking out your phones on a booth with instant impression. This should be a low end phone for 150 bucks MAX.
