Hey
RSS:
I went there:
http://www.mediafire.com/?ooijamaxocg
It is Java RSS feeder, quite rich but you cannot add whatever, just choose from what's available. I had it on my P1 but just now installed on X1.
And it works!
I installed .jar file.
Aware: don't perform a landscape/portrait switch since the app just doesn't handle this.
P.S. Are we able to change this one disgusting icon for all the Java apps?

Understood. However, having to navigate to a different panel does not provide the same features as the Pxxx series handsets. I was hoping to see a clicable icon, similar to that of an Envelope for sms/email that flashes when new feeds are downloaded. This would allow me to keep the phone idle on the default Panel without having to manually navigate between panels, just to see if there are new feeds. I am currently using SE Panel #2. I would say it would be helpful to have a little clickable RSS icon that flashes with new news feeds.
I don't think there needs to be a taskbar notification of new feeds since they are updated on a periodic basis.
New feeds are automatically shown. Just create an RSS feed on the Sony Ericsson panel and set how often you want it to update (General->"Web feeds update time"). Whenever you want to read the feed, just touch it and the RSS reader will show full screen.

i realised i got this problem only after i installed Pocket Mechanic ytd. ive since removed it. even uninstalled and reinstalled the media panel...
anyway ive posted this question on several forums. and most replies hv been to live with it..
if i cant live with it, guess i just gona hv to hard reset again..
edit: forgot to mention. i do hv Garmin Mobile XT and i noticed that those icons are used in Garmin.
edit: problem solved. reinstalled garmin without the basemap. no more ugly icons.

Guys I am a very happy user of X1. I am a first time user of WM so i need a little assistance. Please help me on the same:
1) How do i backup the entire phone. On my P1i i used to used pc suite to take backup of the stuff i wanted to. On X1 i dont use PC suite as i use just Active sync. Please advice.
2) How do i backup just the contacts file like a VCF file having the enitre contacts on it?
3) How do i check for firmware updates? Just use the windows update from the x1 or is there any other way.
Thanks.
Regards

the question of backups was discussed a few pages ago. I never do backups so can't add many more. All my data is already in outlook, or in apps which I prefer to re-install after an upgrade and hard reset, and also files/documents which get synched also from my PC
SEUS has the X1 to select from its list of devices, but so far there is no update available
You can also keep checking here as I'm sure someone will comment when they find an upgrade available

Sorry I misread the second post on this page but I'll leave this cause it might be helpful to someone.
Because of the awkward screensize of the E90 I always had troubles finding a encoder to put videos on this phone.....ENTER
MediaCoder
Try it.Its freeware.Just change the resolution in the settings to fit your X1 screensize ,tinkle with a couple of settings that fit your needs (I encode to AVI because I use Smartmovie or DivX player) and away you go.
Is Smartmovie avaiable for WM out of curiosity?
Try a couple of setting combinations to get the best quality for you..
I know have videos that play perfectly in fullscreen 800x352.Its bloody awesome.
Hope this helps.Cant remember the link offhand but just type MediaCoder in Google and its usually the first hit in results.Download the latest version.
Ok heres the link

Hmm,
I think don't understand the folders in WM.
So I copied around 300 docs to my X1, created a folder for it on Storage Card,
but Word Mobile cannot see them.
But they're apparent on File explorer of course.
Similar with music - Xperia Media panel can see all of 150 music files, but WM Media player - none.
What's up?
