edit: full screen is only available in landscape mode so perhaps you#re trying to get it in portrait mode?

Media player->Videos->select a video
Click screen (or select more->Default view->landscape)
I get a video in the middle with the navigation bar at the bottom and up/down arrows at the top. Cannot find a way to remove them.

I've only tried with the demo video so I am wondeing if you're video is wide screen (i.e. not same dimensions as screen)... check the settings ->size option and if it is "actual size" try changing to "fit to screen"
I'm still runing the base M600 for test purposes but I'm just about done and will start loading content very soon to test

Are these pics of the browser made in some kind of small screen rendering mode? It doesnt really look like the original html. Can you switch to original html and take some pictures form other sites, so we can see how opera renders them? Please show us the different zoomlevels.

those were made at the default settings, i.e. 50% zoom.
there is no setting to choose "original html" or anything similar, Iguess increasing the zoom will do that so if no one else does, I'll do some more pics as requested tonight

I'm still runing the base M600 for test purposes but I'm just about done and will start loading content very soon to testTesting with an Mpeg4 16x9 image (Doctor Who! - image now on my previous post). Tried both with and without 'fit to screen' selected. I will try a 4x3 image, perhaps that's the problem, although almost everything I watch is 16x9!

There is indeed a control bar even in full-screen mode, but the video picture is 'on top' of it.
Maybe it has to do with the format of your video, as the Media player scales in proportion (i.e., not distorted). Hence, if you have a video with a different aspect ration than the screen, the relatively 'shorter' of the screen dimensions will determine the overall size of the picture.
Fact (from my experience): If you have a video with 'narrower' than the standard TV aspect ratio of 4:3, the vertical dimension of the M600 screen (in landscape mode) is the limiting factor and, hence, not all the screen 'width' is used to display the video. Consequently, there are 'gaps' on the left and right side and you can see parts of the control bar 'sticking out' from underneath the video picture.
Implication (I have not tested this, yet): Conversely, if you have a widescreen format video, the horizontal dimension of the screen is the limiting factor and there will be a gap at the bottom. I surmise that this is why you can see the control bar.
By definition, it is not possible to have full-screen playback filling the entire screen without distortion, unless the aspect ration of the video and the screen are identical.

yeah, i suspect that is it.
thinking more about it, fit to screen would probably keep the same aspect ratio and so would not chop width to make height fit.
I guess what you see is what you get. my appologies for not thinking more about it before writing that suggestion
