Did some research and it seems like the 1020 sensor is in fact Toshiba made, and not Sony like we previously thought..

This is at least surprising news... Always thought the sensor was made by Sony in 1020, since both 720 and 920 all use Sony sensors and also by the large amount of noise in the images presented in 1020 !
Toshiba is really becoming as decadent as the Nokia !
P.S: This means that hardly we will see a successor to the 808 PureView in less than
two years !

Nokia just confirmed they are bringing RAW support for the Lumias 1020 and 1520!
If LR supports the 1020 in RAW, then it will be a must purchase for me. No brainer really.

This would help the situation for sure..
But they should still improve the post processing on the phone, they are not extracting the maximum out of the sensor.

excerpt from wpcentral article
"Lumia Black
Nokia has been very consistent with taking camera tech for future phones and applying them to devices already on the market. Case in point, new algorithms has been developed for the Lumia 1020 that will come when Lumia Black ships. The algorithms center on the oversampling magic that Nokia uses when making images from the 41 megapixels on the Lumia 1020. You’ll see improvements in how your Lumia 1020 handles tone mapping and noise filtering. These algorithms have basically been built from the ground up and Juha tells us your Lumia 1020 will feel like a new device when you get Lumia Black. He was most proud of how they’ve improved the noise results in the Lumia 1020. Your pictures will look much more natural."

Just a quick question for all 1020 users, I work for a major UK network and we have had a lot of 1020`s coming back to store for the smartphone freezing on the live tiles what makes this worse is that users can't power down the phone even using a hard reset combo the users then have to let the phones battery die. This has taken many hours for some and on rebooting the phone there is very bad screen burn which won't fade and is very clear when using the white theme. Has any other 1020 had this issue. ?
