If the new 2.1 update responds as well as iOS, or even UIQ did on the P1i... I'll be happy.
So far, my only gripe with 1.6 is that on a 600MHz CPU with a tiny 320x240 screen... it SHOULD perform a LOT faster than it does. I expect the X10 Mini/MP to perform way faster than any of the previous iPhones, considering how much smaller the graphics load is.
1.6 underclocks the processor severely. I've had an app prompt me that it couldn't run on my X10 as the processor speed of 388mhz is insufficient for it to run on. WTH? 2.1 would definitely fix this, but even my Dell with 2.2ghz quad core xeon, 1ghz nvidia quadro fx, 8mb of ECC ram lags at times so don't expect too much from our devices

Hi mode, I was comparing existing mobile OS performance. UIQ and iOS have been doing fine... I think android should at least match UIQ. Regarding the CPU under clocking, I wasn't aware of that... But it would explain the subpar performance of the Mini Pro despite its 600 MHz CPU.

Nice improvements. Don't you think the big "End call" button should be changed to slider like the one on the stand by screen? You might press it accidentally with your ear while you're talking, don't you think?

There's not gonna be an FM radio on 2.1 is there?

FM Radio would require a hardware addition to the X10, i.e. an FM chip. 2.1 is a software upgrade so no.

That video is a microcosm of why SEMC get so much shit in comparison to everyone's favourite fruit company, for instance.
They put out an engineering dude to tell the hardcore influencer fan base what's new, what's coming and what's cool. You won't see Apple put a geek up on a product blog to do that. It'll be Jobs or one of the main men to tell you how utterly cool the new changes are, how you need these changes, how this changes everything (again) even when they, you and everyone else knows it doesn't.
"This is, to me, a bit better" says the far too Swedishly honest product manager/engineer. Talk about managing people's expectations down to a point where they are always going to be unhappy because they are never told that they are getting the best product they can get.

Great post! They never talk up anything about their products and seem to believe that a product that is good enough will sell itself - this, I believe, is a Sony trait.
Their marketing needs to be more upfront and direct.
