@786KBR: Thanks for that one, so it's common knowledge that the SE guys are quite laidback when it comes to their products and servicing.

I'd only go for a Mac if I was seriously into video editing or working in DTP...compared to PC's Macs are much more stable but they're also bloody expensive for the casual home user like most of us...hopefully when Vista launches next year we'll be spared all the spyware attacks...I'm still trying to remove the bugs even after I installed Norton AV.

I see Mark Boucher produced some fireworks this afternoon..147 off only 68 balls, including 10 sixes...yhu!
418 for 5 after 50 overs.

My word! I think our internet at work took some speed....it is popping speeds that a 4 mb line should, yet we are on the 512kb option, and only the 1mb lines got upped as far as I know....I feel like I smoked something! Well, I am about to....Rum and Maple!

Right now I'm in the new academic year's initial Governing Body meeting...and I'm keeping myself amused while all the formalised drivel goes on. (tapping away on the stylus looks like I'm pre-occupied taking loadsa notes... ;-) ) When the necessary issues are raised and my professional judgement is required, I will gladly contribute; but until then I'll let the other members have their lions' share of this semi-structured banter. Sigh, I'd rather be watching the cricket right now...

@ amawanqa, reminds me of the past two days of dilbert!(link will follow) I hate it when crap gets talked about purely because of formalities. Take the thing on, get it done, and life goes on...

Here it is:

Check both out in that order=)

Oh yeah, just joined DeviantArt. Check out my first submission. Took it with my w900i...

Right now I'm on my bed awaiting the imminent arrival of the local nerd to come and help me install a TV card...the case can't seem to open even though I've unscrewed every damn screw keeping the thing intact.

Eish Wanqa, don't i know that feeling! It's like they feel honour-bound to remind everybody to do their best, shoulder to the wheel, nose to the grindstone, etc etc, pick your cliche. I often wonder whether they suppose that everybody would automatically slack off should they not make those inspiring little speeches...

Brix, got the TV card sorted?

Just got home; and to add insult to injury, I think I might just have incurred my first UK speeding fine on the way home.. . The tell-tale double-flash of the camera that I saw in my rear view mirror as I drove past caused a sickening feeling..
That'll be some points off my UK licence and a fine if the bloody 'Gatso' speed camera did indeed zap me.
Oh well, kaka happens, en more is nog n' dag..

@ francois,
LOL, those 2 Dilbert/ Dogbert comic strips sure were appropriate, particularly the first one!!

@ Kryptik,
Yeah, too right; thank goodness it's only once a term.

@da krypsta: Sort of...I connected it up to the relevant slots, connected the antenna cable but seemingly I can't tune into any channels. I bought the thing mainly because of it's PVR functionality (time-slip) but it's frustrating getting it to work.

@ wanqa, I really enjoy Dilbert: it captures the reality of the corporate world down to the tee....There used to be a show on tv, but I think it ran for one season. It was truly brilliant, very sharp, but as it goes with Americans, most of them never got it, and the ones who did were either in the minority or only discovered the show after it was cancelled. If any of you enjoy satire, try to see an episode or two.
