I agree.
People complain that it takes too long for SE to release the phone but the same people will also complain if they released it quicker and it didnt work properly.
How do you actually know it is the same people....?????

@Chriswg52
Christ man if you wanted to pick up a new toy to carry you over why'd u pick up a piece of vanity junk like the Razr? I certainly could have guided you in the right direction to a nicer and reasonably priced handset at that. Food for thought, there are planned releases of some 4G phones with 20mbit download capabilities later this year. I have a DocoMo JP account so hopefully they roll it out in time for me to play around with after the P990 high starts to wear off.
By the way, only unlocked P910s were available around the time we got them. Carriers didn't pick it up until several weeks later.

@BigFeat--
I only got the razr because it was the cheapest thing I could find that I didn't completely hate. It was only $90 as an upgrade. The only things cheaper were some ugly Samsungs and a Nokia. I have to save my money for the P990. I paid over $800 for the unlocked P910 way back when, so I'm expecting to pay the same for the P990. Luckily, it will only be a month and a half or so until we can get the P990.
To all:
This may seem a little premature, but does anyone think the P990 successor will come about kind of quickly. It just seems that by the time the P990 comes out, it will be slightly out of date compared to others (like what happened to Z1010). I mean, once they get all the bugs and new UIQ sorted out, it should be easier to make the next model. I just don't want to buy the P990 if the P1000 will be out within 6 months. Nevermind, I just realized how stupid I sound. I will have to buy the P990, then wait for the next one, and then buy it too...that's just how the mobile phone world works! Thanks for letting me sort that out. lol. P.S. What's up with clausnors post 2 above this? It's screwing up the alignment of the posts.

@chriswg52: In what way or on what points will the p990 be outdated when it coles out?
Also why would a new smartphone automatically be a successor of the p990?

Well for a first it only runs at the same Mhz (core chip speed) at which the 2004 released Nokia 6630 runs ! Secondly it only has the old wifi (b and not g) which means that when run on a wifi network it will slow everything down. On the up side it has a nice 2mp camera thou.(this also almost a year old) The thing is I don't take every day pictures while I use the chip-speed the minute I switch it on :-( Greetings from South Africa. Mario :-)

What happened to the rendering of this page? (Firefox 1.5 browser)?
Mario, the chip is very new & much more advanced in the ARM achitecture than on the 6630 a 2yr old phone btw. Also 802.11b in this phone will keep costs down & will only slow down an 802.11g network if all devices (besides the joining p990i) are running 802.11g. This same thing happens with PDA's & laptops & desktop computers anyway so its nothing new. But for world travellers 802.11b is more likely available and usuable than an EXCLUSIVE 802.11g network that is setup NOT to allow an 802.11b device.
However I wish SE put in an 802.11b/g chip just to be safe.

Dude the speed at which the cpu runs hasn't been a valid measure of processor speed for a long time now. It's not the same cpu line...

I don't know about you guys, but I just have to say it, I wish mario would leave esato and go to some Nokia forum, please Mario, leave and never come back,
everyone, please don't think South Africa is full of people like Mario, really its not, and while we on that, why do you always says " cheers from south africa

"
Its so annoying, and your comments, besides being often incorrect and fuming with lack of knowledge are just simply put, of no value to anyone I'm sure,
there I have it off my chest now, and just to clarify one more issue on the wireless speed is often a wireless network doesn't have a backbone connection of more than 2 or 3 megs, and the throughput that the "b" standard is capable of is more or less 7 or 8 megs real world throughput, I know here in sunny south africa, the fastest DSL connection is only 1 megs, trust me b will be fine

can't wait for this phone, I also heard some resellers in Dubai have stock but at crazy prices, can't be long before a release now.

yeah, well said.
And think about it. Does the connection speed really matter _that_ much after a few mbits? I mean the max space you can fill is 4 gigabytes anyways, and that gets eaten up pretty fast either way. Unless you want to watch streaming videos directly from the net, I don't really see the point of having the faster version if it adds to the price and the battery drain.
