edit: oh yeah, and can we cut the crap about how this is another example of Muslim persecution. If anything, the pro-Zidane reaction has been remarkable considering how other players have been vilified for far less (Beckham, Effenberg, Escobar[!]). Let's leave religion out of this one, where it clearly doesn't belong!

could nt agree more since the man himself describes himself as a non practising muslim so i dont think religion plays a huge part in his life.

Whatever Materazzi said to Zidane, no one will know (just like we will never know why Ronaldo winked, even if all England claims he was saying "job done").

And insults during a game are common, just mind games. Not real insults.
Obviously Zidane cracked under pressure and Materazzi got what he wanted.

Now Zidane, as experienced as he is, should NEVER take that attitude.
Besides, this attitude from Zidane is not new. He already got suspended for 5 games during his seasons in Juventus for the same reason: headbutt.

Far worse, fairplay is one item taken in consideration when assigning the golden boot... did Zidane deserve it? ... makes you think.

Zidane doesn't deserve the golden boot award, not after that!

No he doesn't, but i'm sure there are a lot of other players which deserved it after that action from Zidane.
