The shipment date of IMX230 is on April 2015 so I think it's safe to assume that Z4 will be released on or after April, right?

Shipping in April I'd imagine will be to other companies, Sony themselves have probably had it is mass production for its own devices for a short while now meaning its likely to be only available on the Z4 range in 1ST half of the year then maybe the like of the Note 4 or any other device launched from Q3 onwards could have that sensor on board.

There is no 100% confirmation from any source that this sensor will be used and from what others have posted (if I recall correctly) the current IMX220 will be used for Z4.

I have no idea if Sony can get the sensor earlier, would be nice to have phase detection finally but if the Shipping date is not only for outside customers but also Sony, I am skeptical that the IMX230 would appear in the Z4. If shipping means actual production samples going to Sony, then Z4 production would start at the earliest in early april to mid april, and shipping to consumers probably in May. Who knows if this is the case. If Sony can get the sensor earlier, then perhaps a late March to early April shipping date is possible with the new IMX230, otherwise Sony would just rather opt for the IMX230 from the previous Z models. From what has been posted here before, the Z4 should ship with the older IMX220 from the current Z3 meaning the IMX230 would be left for a successor.

So far we have no idea when the one per year flagship will come into force, MWC or IFA, this has not been specified by anyone yet. If the Z5 is due for IFA and will be the one per year flagship then perhaps this will be shipping with the IMX230. Lots of unknowns for yet, we've only seen the front Panel of the supposed Z4, no real concrete specs. I feel the Z4 will be a slight upgrade for the Z3, new cpu and that is it. If it brings anything new to the table that is worth upgrading for I will but then if not, I can wait for IFA.

It's a shame Sony is shrinking down the mobile department.This fiscal they're projecting 1.4tln yen sales,and in 3 years they're hoping for 0.9-1.0.I think it won't be long until Sony sells the business like they did with Vaio.

MS also have a lot of success with those low end phones based on their financial report

Not really..

Yes, in terms of volume they've sold some low end phones, but there is no money there because the margins are tiny and the people that buy them are not likely to use any of the paid services, or pay for any apps, or click on ads served in those apps... the low end market is not where you want to be.

Esato was founded in the year 2001 and was mainly targeted at Sony Ericsson mobile phone users. We started with a couple of services offering free ringtones, grayscale logos for the Ericsson T39 and R520 models. We have expanded the service to include free color backgrounds for over 50 mobile phone models. Other popular services are the discussion forum for anyone interested in topics about mobile phones and accessories. Even if the focus was targeted at Sony Ericsson owners, we now have separate forums for owners of other brands. The most popular sections are the News, Blog, discussion forum, Free themes, free color backgrounds and a service where users can upload images from a PC and download a converted image down to their mobile phone.

Wonder if Sony will choose to introduce a new smartwatch at MWC or just continue with the smartwatch 3 until IFA.

On the topic of lollipop

Rogers Canada will roll out the updates in March and April, so hopefully unbranded devices will be February and March. Although I question if the 5.0 update will have all the new camera features or Sony will opt to delay them, and first launch the new camera updates on the Z4. Then there is the fact that perhaps the new camera features (assuming they exist) will never make it to the older devices, my Z1 doesn't have the newer camera features as in the Z2 or Z3. Would be funny (not) if Sony didn't even add any new camera features to the Z4 even.

I would consider buying the next sw if it has more secure sport strap, much better display, longer battery life and heart rate monitor. wireless charging would be nice also but not a deal breaker.

I don't think they'll announce the SW4 @ MWC but a new version of the original Smartband looks like it may be getting a release as a new Smartband with model number SWR12 (original was SWR10) showing the same removable core has appeared @ the FCC a few days ago.

@amirprog

The SW3 actually is on of the best Android wear smart watches in battery life, if not the best... for me the only downside was the strap just looks cheap and not formal, but they're working as I see like the stainless steel and the leather one... the display is also nice...

A heart rate monitor and wireless charging are a great additions too, if only they would offer two versions, round and square then it will be amazing...

But looking around the web, I can see that SW3 isn't in the top three wish lists for most peoples, first and sec. goes for Moto 360 and LG G watch R, the third goes for ASUS and Samsung in most cases... Sony is like 4th or 5th...

@Xajel
Yes but further delaying the need to charge is very welcome and looking at how good sony is in battery life i expect them to outdo it. about the straps, i really don't understand why they did not announce sw3 also with metal and leather straps. generally, their announcement of it was half baked.
