Scottish people are quite conservative by nature but, after being ruled from a "foreign" city (London), Brussels won't be any worse! ;-)

@absinthe - would you say that your 'British' or 'Scottish'? I tend to find myself referring to my nationality as 'English' quite a lot, although I do use both that and 'British'.
One point about the UK moving to CET - that would mean us losing the world-famous Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), and the prime meridian which runs through London!
I would though like to see the end of this BST/GMT business with putting the clocks back and forward, I remember hearing that basically the only people that benefitted from this were a few farmers or something! Does the rest of Europe have any of these daylight savings changes to make every spring and autumn?

That's a good reason not to change time zone.
Farmers? Which benifit from that. They may think that beans or peas will be growing better

most countries have daylight saving. all european countries do, the americas (north anyway) do, countries in africa do.

i think that summer and winter time is a stupid think..it should not change each year...
about scotish and british, i do think that british ppl take advantages, i mean big ppl not everage person, and they say in the meanig what's good it's ours but what they don't like it is scotish..i hope it's not only my opinion,may be i'm mistaken my self..
in slovakia and chzech many people did find out that as a chzechoslovakia it used to be better,but we can survive as a separate countrys and in some thinks beeing even good or famous...

@boto- i think it was something 2 do with daylight for harvesting, but surely these things can be done at dusk using headlights or artificial light?

@boto We were Slavic ppl 1300 years ago. I know that Serbs came to Balkan, together with Croatians, Slovenians, Bulgarians and Macedonias in 6th or 7th century, while Byzantine (or Eastern Rome) still existed. About Yugoslavia, I think you will soon hear onli Serbia, and only Montenegro :-(. We will split till we split on villages and towns, and than on streets, and at the end every house with its backyard will be one country... LOL
