Excuse me sir. I believe we, as a collective, were queried by another forum user on the suitability of each of three current mobile phones for said user.

I believe I provided a simple fair comparison between the X1 and Touch HD. Moving aside the superior looks and hardware keyboard of the X1 and the larger display of the Touch HD for a moment, the devices are essentially one and the same when one considers that, with a little looking around, each of these products' OEM-supplied Windows Mobile UI extension are available for the other. As such, the primary pursuading factor when comparing these two very similar devices is obviously the hardware keyboard.

Regarding my comments about the iPhone: not once in my previous post comparing these three devices did I disregard the iPhone as an effective solution to your needs, nor the needs of the aforementioned forum user. I simply did not include the obvious and well-known fact that the iPhone is easier to use and has a user interface that is, overall, easier to use than Windows Mobile, serious omissions notwithstanding. What I was implying is that there is no reason to choose Windows Mobile over the iPhone if each and every one of the features that I listed are of no value to the user. Hence my basic list - and I mean basic, as there are many, many more glaring omissions from Apple's offering - shoud not be viewed as discrediting the device. In fact, on careful re-reading, you will find that I actually suggested the iPhone to bo_sagoor if he or she has no need for any of the features in the list.

Quite simply, the fact of the matter is that all three of these devices are deficient in some area and, if you ask me right now, all three of them suck. The X1 sucks. The iPhone sucks. The Touch HD sucks. The 5800 sucks. The N96 sucks. The N97 sucks. The P1 sucks. Every single bloody phone out there, has fairly obvious issues that the manufacturers of each of them have either ignored or sidestepped around. The truth is, no matter which device (s)he chooses, (s)he will be disappointed with it in some way.

So... I would appreciate it if you would refrain from including myself in the blanket covering you have enshrouded "posters who feel like bringing up the iPhone again" with.

Now if you will excuse me, I should get back to work.

.... so continuing on with our X1.....

I had a problem with my keypad where the lower part were double or sometimes tripple inputting the letter/symbol etc. It drove me nuts enough to make me take apart My X1 and see what the hell was going on.

It was relatively easy to come apart and no real tricks to it. In getting to the keypad and removing the pressure pads I discovered the problem. The glue that hold the pressure pads on the circuit board had actually run onto the contacts. Im guessing from the heat (here in NZ its around 30˚C atm) so pretty sure its covered by warranty for those with one. All I did was use a small amount of contact cleaner on a lintfree rag and clean all the contacts and pressure pads of the excess glue.

Now works PERFECT.

Sooner or later someone is going to top or match the iPhone OS (hasn't happened yet). When it happens, it'll be funny to see the tables turned.

iGO8 8.3.2.71348 and Garmin Mobile XT 5.0.20. However both have GPS lag around 50m.

Which GPS software for X1 is most accurate? Are any as accurate as the built-in GPS systems in a car?
