@da wanqsta and aqualung: How long would you guys wait for the price of the P990i to drop to even be tempted...right now R8000 sounds pretty ridiculous...add a couple of 1000s more and one could buy the cheapest MacBook.

Having to buy messages with moola is a bit of a silly idea...why cant the message cost be deducted directly. Its a damn mission to even get moola in the first place.
Lol any cool thing will come at a price, let's be grateful this one's only moola...

@psychonymphe: I couldn't/wouldn't read all of this
alarmist BS from the Cape Argus (I actually started my journalism career there) a paper which speaks for all the Mother Grundy's out there. If there's any concerned parent out there reading this please talk to your children about porn/filth/sick old men, don't let them learn about these things on the net.

@ da brixsta,
To be quite honest, I really don't know. If a really good contract deal is suddenly announced with the P990i, there'd be no reason to hesitate.
What I do know is that right now the phone is already going for nearly £80-odd less (approx R1000) than when it initially became available earlier this month.
I'm still in no immediate rush, although of course I'd love to have one right now.
A seller on esato is now selling them new and sim-free for £390 (approx R5070).
I'm sure there'll be numerous great incentives offered by the networks both before and immediately after Christmas; my P900 can soldier on until then.
I could buy one sim-free now, but then this is going to erode some of my savings that I'm putting towards my motorbike. (I think I'm having withdrawal symptoms...I haven't owned a big bike for 5 years now! Too long...) Sigh, I'll dream on about these until then...
We've also still got to buy our plane tickets for our SA pilgrimage next year etc. etc...
Thing is, one could pick up a brand new, sim-free M600i for around £260-odd (approx R3380), but as we all know only too well there's no cam, which I really would enjoy having.

@da wanqsta: That bike is a killer.
On the new announcements by Nokia, they're really pushing it but I doubt that N81 will be out any time before Christmas.
EDIT: Ok, who else is on the nightshift. I think it's time we had proper roll-call. It's 1.40am and I can't move away from my computer screen...Right now I feel like those herbs in the Axe "Get-a-Girlfriend" ads.

so yeah, we are pushing the last bit out of the holiday. took today off aswell. maybe going to gold reef city. then the airport then home for jim.
i am definately alternative in my movie tastes these days. i seem to prefer less commerical movies, art movies. everyone prefer the standard stuff. but oh well.

@ brix
Good question ! Am DESPERATE to own this phone - but R8000 a bit steep ! Yes the Macbook analogy crossed my mind too

:
Thing is, am due for upgrade anyway...but every day I hear more pathetic vacillating excuses from my SP MTN about why the phone is delayed ( even though apparently it is just a matter of stock waiting to be shipped...) brings me closer to throwing in the towel and just BUYING one...for me if it is not released by Nov I will do that.
As amawanqa points out the price may drop by then.
I think R6000 reasonable to pay for this phone. (maximum !)

Wow, those specs look fantastic!! The internal memory rather grips me, i could do with something that can run Opera Mini and Netfront simultaneously without giving out-of-memory messages.
I stayed up till just after 3am, but i was too caught up in an old favourite by Wilbur Smith to come online.
