jianlin: One Sony seems to be a device for people who want the best of the best. For the rest who want an uber powerful flagship to compete with (and likely still beat) the Galaxy S4 and HTC One, that's likely what this mystery device ramu is talking about is. It'll probably fall into a much lower price point to compete.

One Sony will be more like a statement device to show off what Sony can do.

The Xperiablog post on this mentioned their source talked about a dedicated Walman audio chip, which they took to mean could be the S-Master MX Digital Amp

Hope it's true. The audio quality from my Walkman Z is amazing. I've got them paired with a set of XBA-4 earbuds... listening to FLAC files is pure audio bliss!

EDIT.

On the subject of 4k recording, sure there's talk of hardware capable of doing it on the horizon (not necessarily from Sony), but think of the size of such files!

Baidu and ePrice say One Sony would be launched in Q3, July (for Asia) and July in China with global release in August/September.

Any changes ramu?

Cross posting this from what I said on NeoGAF. This seems to be a current summary of various rumors as well as the latest ones on Honami:

-5" 1080p display with either JDI white magic display or Sharp IGZO display. Likely 2000:1 contrast
-Possibly triluminos technology to improve colour gamut to near OLED levels
-2+ GB RAM
-S800 Processor at 2.3GHz + adreno 330
-Water and dust resistant. Personally wondering if they can add a drop rating like their rugged cameras. Would be a huge selling feature I imagine.
-IR blaster
-13/16/20 MP CMOS camera sensor with a larger size - anywhere from 1/2" to 1" depending on who you talk to.
-Improved optics - possibly Carl Zeiss lens. I personally wouldn't be surprised if it looks like the Cybershot T series cameras for optics.
-Improved JPEG compression algorithms
-Xenon flash + dual LED flash
-Dedicated camera shutter key
-S-Master MX digital amplifier from Walkman series
-2700 - 3500 mAH battery, but most rumors as of late seem to indicate 3000 as the top end.
-Glass/metal body
-One of the best phone designs Sony has ever put into a smartphone

My wishlist for additional features I'd like include optical image stabilization, some magical way to play my Vita games (perhaps dual boot), floating touch and a removable battery. None of those are deal breakers for me if they don't appear, but just things Sony could tack on to make an amazing phone even better.

So, there's all this talk about the kickass designs of Togari and Honami. Anyone want to guess what's so special about the designs?

Those may be Chinese variants.

I only have info on Japanese and Global variants.

One Sony global launches by end September- October

And phablet around late August.

And as for shutting up critics, I still have doubts. Recently Eldar made a camera comparison - S4 vs Pureview 808 vs HTC One vs butterfly vs Iphone 5 vs Xperia Z.

He declared S4 and Pureview 808 as tied No1

And CNET few months back posted that IP5 camera is as good as 808 pureview.

So I can see reviewers saying One Sony camera still doesn't deliver any "noticeably" better photos than Galaxy S4 and is too expensive to be recommended

Hmm, will we finally see the accelerated launch schedule from annoucement to shipping from Sony with these phones? The wait between announcement and launch with Z and ZL was necessary IMO otherwise it would've been too close to the HTC One and GS4. It was previously speculated that Sony would be moving to a roughly 2 week period from announcement to release... hope we get that with these phones.

Well over on XDA a member who is apparently an insider has mentioned a new path that fixes/improves various things. It has apparently affected the camera to some degree as the JPEG files seem larger than they were before, but he hasn't commented on much else. I've asked if he can take photos.

Also I just posted this in the Z thread. It shows the Z vs. the GS4 and HTC one for night time video recording. The Xperia Z easily holds its own here. There are times when it's noisier, but it does far less auto focusing, better white balance and shows far more information where the other cameras show only black

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dlx4_qlB6vA

So there are ups and downs to the current version of the Z camera software. Let's see how Sony improves it via software updates, and that might give us an idea of what to expect with the future phones.
