AWESOME
Yes, which actually isn't glass
@sighduck
I am not 100% sure but Digital Touch = Stylus/Pen ala Galaxy Note/Note II stylus

Whoa, that would be neat. But if true, I hope the stylus isn't built into the body like the Note, as it would just add bulk to the body.

Ok... will you at least tell us if it is a material ever seen on any smart phone before?
Glad to hear it's using white magic and is both water and dust resistant! The only thing that would make it sweeter would be if it were drop resistant, but I guess that can't be guaranteed given its material design... but the front and back shatterproof sheets are a lovely addition.
I swear I didn't realize my X10A and my Sony tablet had the shatterproof sheets on the screen for many, many months until I bothered to take a closer look. I think it's a brilliant decision for Sony to keep using them.
So as far as I'm concerned, unless Sony yanks a Vitaphone out of their arse early next year or the 6" phone is just as good if not better, it seems that Yuga will be my next phone. Are we hoping for Sony to have it ready for sale either at or immediately after CES? Or will we have to wait a bit? So long as we don't run into the eternal wait that the Ion went through, or that the V is getting, I'll still be perfectly happy with waiting a bit for it.
I don't think the material has ever been used on any phone/ or any widely popular electronic device.
It is quite strong and can take a drop or two easily. Don't just go by the looks, it's way tougher than the pics make it out to be.
Vitaphone .......... there isn't any in 2013.
The 6" hybrid will launch in Q2. Yuga will launch end Q1 in some markets and globally by early Q2.
And yes you can record underwater videos but you have to start recording before putting the phone underwater as the touch doesn't work underwater, it only works when used in light rain not when completely underwater.
@sighduck
The stylus will be an additional accessory, won't be built into the body.

Hmm... I'll guess ceramic for now then. I'm going to guess Yuga will feel very premium in the hand. Any idea if that's a metal band around the side of the phone ala the iPhones?
Sad about no Vitaphone... ah well.
If the 6" is launching Q2, I wonder when we'll get info on it. MWC maybe? Ah well... can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@vivftp
I'd say ala Xperia V, not Iphone

@randomuser
Good to know! It's like they are putting everything into the Yuga/Odin. Before a lot of us complained to Sony that their technologies were so spread out among their phones, like in the case of the P getting the WhiteMagic screen and not the "flagship" S, and the V getting water-dust resistance and not the flagship T. As this will be the first full flagship under Sony (without Ericsson), I'm glad that they are true to word about "One Sony" and putting in everything into their flagship. I need to reward Sony by getting myself a Yuga (which seems like a reward itself
)
I'm assuming the phablet will have the stylus built in and that it will be a Wacom digitizer.

lol, yeah the V
Hmmm, we likely got linked to on a popular forum or something to explain the bump in views.
I also wonder if Yuga will suppor this new Miracast standard. I'm hoping to buy a new TV next year and it'll likely support it, and it would be amazing if I could just mirror my phones screen wirelessly. No having to fuss about with HDMI cables and whatnot.

@sighduck
True that
@vivftp
Yes, all Sony phones for 2013 except the low end ones support Miracast. And also Google has now brought this feature to Android 4.2. So regardless of the brand, any phone running Android 4.2 will support Miracast. But it was Sony who brought out this feature first

One other question randomuser. Any idea if Sony is planning to use a proprietary dock connector for future devices? It struck me as odd that they designed the unique connector for the Xperia Tablet S and built accessories around it. I thought it might be Sony first step towards that and we'd see it on future phones as well.
Thanks for all the info

@Randomuser My dream specs... Is yuga a global phone or jus Japanese variant... Why do they keep two different models... I mean, look at sammy & "suing fruit", they release one global phone... I want Sony to do it that way...
