Hmmn, I dont know. The fact is, both devices have their own characteristics. Neither is better than the other, but each is the more competent in certain areas. Be aware though, that sim free, the iphone is very expensive also. Also, if the X1 was provided with the massive number of apps which the iphone has backing it (for free, not the WM trial or $$ rubbish), then there would be no question which is better. IMO, there is very little that the X1 can be criticized for, as a device (barring wm faults, of course). Mainly, I'd just want it to be faster and to have a more sophisticated mxp, and a better speaker would be nice, too.

For the average user who doesnt know what is what...it is fine to use... when you can write a better software then call it crap...lol... I personally use it over advanced config. because I dont have the time to mess with all the different settings it has, which MOST people will never use or understand anyway.

Cheers,

WC

I won't be able to try the new panels for a while. My X1 is in the UK for repair. And there is a delay in getting parts to repair it. And they have no idea how long it will take to get them in.

I am getting quite frustrated.

Good news for X1 owners:
WM6.5 upgrade policy has been changed! Now Microsoft will leave it up to vendors to decide whether they will release new devices with the new software only or whether they will offer upgrades to existing devices. You need 128MB RAM and 400MHz processing to be able to upgrade. This could be a pretty crucial upgrade for the X1 IF SE decide to make the X1 upgradable. Otherwise, you will need to go to XDA Devs for something new >D

I was going to make this point too. How much cheaper is an unsubsidized iPhone? I thought it was $599. I got my X1 for $35 more.

I don't understand. There are tons of free WM apps available.

There is a new MXP panel available on XDA (doesn't work for me though). It's from the upcoming R3 ROM update.

Yeah, but I hear that this new Mxp still doesn't provide some core functionality like folder support (and is it just mine, or do other X1s also take a long time to load contacts in Mxp?). I just can't wait to see WM6.5 running on an X1 because it definately helps to remove that archaic look from alot of the basic screens (IMO). But again, what I want most is for the X1 to be faster somehow, without the need to uninstall programs.

BTW, in my opinion WM apps just don't have the support that the iPhone apps have. The freeware for WM is far less robust, and as far as I can see, much of the newer software of significant use for newer handsets (such as the X1) is 'homemade' by XDA members, etc, rather than more commercial developers. At least that's the way I see it.

Im so glad that there may be the option of SE offering WM6.5 as an upgrade. I absolutely love the Titanium today screen (im using itjes 6.5 rom) and couldnt go back to the standard today or a panel. I have suggested to many devs on XDA to develop a Titanium plugin or panel for 6.1 - especially for the X1 as the longer screen makes it an absolute dream to use.
