So what's the point? I was not expecting or suggesting that SE should use UIQ in their mid-end phones. I was saying that SKARVEN [ Motorola's 8 megapixel UIQ smartphone] and X PIXEL are better than any of UIQ phones to be announced by SE. Where did you get that UIQ mid-range thing from?
Perhaps you should entertain the idea that I possibly misread your post.

I'd rather they stuck to JP-8 rather than bring UIQ into the mid range.
Yeah, I agree as well. I really can't imagine why consumers would really want from a smartphone that non-smartphones can't offer. I think the iPhone is a good example because it is more a dumbphone than a smartphone, and it is a good consumer phone - easy and fun to use, although a lot of 'basic' functions were left out.
@SMS
Yeah, I know what you mean about filtering, but regarding announcements, there's only so much you can do - either they are or they aren't. The only stuff that can be filtered is things like phone specs, strategies etc.
And did anyone pick up on the hint in the unbiased K850 review?
I got the feeling that SE tries to modify certain aspects in this phone for future purposes. To further explain, the addition of PSP like media manager can indicate the trend the manufacturer is trying set. They introduced this very handy option, and moved the file manager shortcut to the Organizer menu. Why? because they want the users to get used to this (PSP like) interface, which will be the major feature of a new media centric (yet to be announced) handset.
Now let's name an upcoming, multimedia centric phone, that would greatly benefit from such an interface, which is both attractive and easy-to-use - consumer friendly....
UPDATE:
An upcoming media centric phone, possibly
Mooi, will have an interface like the PSP-style K850/W910 'Media' managers.

Highly, highly doubt it. It's still going to have the d-pad and navigation buttons remember, so anything above 3" is good enough a size IMO.
And that's not the Mooi....

Hmmmm somebody has a feeling and you make it a rumour just to keep this thread rolling!!! Oh well.
Monday's conference about UIQ doesn't necessarely means that UIQ phones will be announced. From the past experience, this never happened during a strategic conference. But we will see.

Sony Ericsson themselves STATES it as being an ANNOUNCEMENT. And it's a press conference about UIQ. So let's see who's wrong, shall we....
