@frankthetank: That's awesome that you scored a K850i out of it! If you can't get the K850i to use the HDR software, maybe an older photo could be used?

@yea g: Welcome mate! I hadn't heard of Black + White before... Thanks for the link! So is this the one of the new networks we heard about a while back?

What phone do you use dude? And what city are you from?

I do have a cracker panorma shot of Mount Cook that you might appreciate?

Or Lake Tekapo?

Whangaparoa Harbour?

Mt John Observatory?

Thanks for that!

I'll work on it tomorrow night hopefully. Obviously if I'm making it a background, I will need to make it a bit paler. I'm thinking either the Lake Tekapo or Mount Cook one, because they are really typical of New Zealand's beautiful countryside. They are all really stunning though. I've been up to Mount John Observatory and around that area myself and views like that really stick in your mind.

@frankthetank

Great shots mate! What you need for the K850i is an IPK-100 but I don't know if SENZ have sourced it yet as when it was released last year I called the Sony Style store in Newmarket who said SENZ didn't know what it was and had no plans to supply it. Typical behaviour really. Anyway, worth enquiring again I reckon.

WOW - Good spotting!

That's very likely NZCommunications! I've heard recently that they're doing a low cost approach to mobile, but B&W is a very interesting concept and could certainly tempt me away from VodafoneNZ.
I signed up as a Beta-tester and got this email:

Dear XXXXXXXXX,

Thanks for dropping us a line.

One of the gurus from the Black+White team will be in touch with you for a bit of a chin wag some time in the near future.

Cheers,

Looking forward to this chin wag

NZC have signed a deal with VodafoneNZ to use the Vodafone network in the same manner as TelstaClear renamed 021 services as 029 but now use the 027 network.

@M-O
All of those photos would look great on the first post but my preference is for the Whangaparoa Harbour shot as it's more representative of what I see everyday.

Right again!

It appears M2 is already up and running in Oz as GreenMobiles specialising in Small Business Enterprise and running an Online shop called Simply Mobiles supplying Optus handsets. Here is a link to thier SE phone page including C902, K660, W890 and W980 at discounted (Australian dollar) prices: http://www.simplymobiles.com.au/cart.php?m=product_list&c=3

And here's a link to a pdf of thier agreement with Vodafone signed last year signalling their plans in NZ and detailing their background. http://m2.com.au/viewfile.php?id=82

From the M2NZ news page:
"...M2 is also already in the New Zealand market entering back in January [2006] with a Wholesale Services Agreement with Telecom New Zealand. This deal is initially for fixed line services. Since the beginning of the year, M2 has been growing an active sales channel in both Auckland and Wellington.
The new deal with Vodafone's wholesale division will give M2 a lot more leverage in the market and will allow it to bundle fixed line access from Telecom New Zealand and cell phone access from Vodafone..."

Hmmm... good luck to them getting Voda and Telecom to play together nicely; in 2006 I was an Xtra customer but couldn't get my emails on my K700 or V800 because they were on Vodafone. I hope M2 can work around this.

Info on NZ Communications is hard to find, this was part of the profile they provided when the submitted an application for Wimax spectrum being auctioned by the government:

"NZCL has announced plans to commence business in NZ using Huawei Technologies as its technology partner. Huawei Technologies have supplied equipment on 32 GSM/WCDMA networks worldwide and are the fastest growing network equipment supplier in the world. They are on track to supply 20% of all new mobile phone networks by 2010.

NZCL is headquartered in Auckland with offices in Wellington and Christchurch. The company is in the process of deploying an initial 840 cell sites to cover 60% of the NZ population. The company currently employs 58 people and 20 consultants. It is in negotiations for multiple co-location sites with Telecom and has filed XX RMA applications for cell site tower erection in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch."
