yes but i've been reading test units of the k790...prototypes with quad-band with edge technology

SE havent announced anything. It would make sense to make it quad band as most of the competition is going quad band.

Could you possibly share this wealth of information (a link) as to where you've been reading this? Don't get me wrong - I'd love to have a K790 that is quadband, because it would be the best all-around phone for me for using in the states and traveling to Europe, but everything that has been published so far has stated that there'll be a K790i with 900mhz and K790a with 850mhz... If you have been reading something that states otherwise, please share a link to it.
