well, coming from a D-SLR point of view, the sensor itself seems to do a good job at picking up the images, and taking into account that the optics may not be anything special (lets face it, its a phone

) i'd say it does a pretty damn good job at taking photos.
The processing algorithms do effect the final output, but these can be inproved upon in updates.
But all in all, for the many things this device can do being packed into a small shell, its perfect for me when i don't want, or are able to lug all my massive equipment with me, i see the picture there, i can snap it there!

Yes i think the camera has great potential and i also think it will get better after a update! I also hopa that the update will fixe the issue of shots are displayed blurry as background pick and when viewing pich in horizontal mode.

I found that too, it seems to be working in an opposite fashion to most other phones, displaying a full res image, then a low res one after, so the pictures look a but, blah, when showing them back on the phone, but on a computer sceen, much more like it was intened to look

Yes i meant that the phone CAN show pics really sharp and crisp but doesn't do that in horizontal mode or as a background pic. Hope they will fix that. Also, do you find it a bit harder to get a macro shot sharp, than with a K800? I do and it was also easier with N73 nokia. With those phones you only had to hold the cam ALMOST perfectly still. Hope they will fix this also.

I think thats why that shot below was a bit blurry, i didn't keep perfectly still, but with my W800, i took some fab macro shots, without needing to be as steady. The picture stabilisation can help, but is only activated in certain modes, such as forced flash off, and twilight modes.
I'm sure it can all be fixed, its mostly software related anyways
