its not eh price yet, its not even the tech yet, its the manufacturing just isnt there to mass produce it ... and that only takes time, kodak holds a fist full of OLED patents and isnt letting anyone slip past them, so thats one of the main constraints right now.
but wow the size and clarity are just SO amazing i hope they push harder than they are for more bleeding edge tech in their top tier phones instead of following the pack, make the PS3 of phones, so utterly obsessively capable down to the smallest detail (minus the price, im more than sure most here have accepted that price below $6/700 usd is fair game) thats what i want if i was a tech director at SE i would MAKE sure to have AT LEAST 1 phone that was for lack of a better analogy the F1 model not everything in it may make it down but it so far out there that you cant help but stare at its excellence and beauty ... just make a tech demo, thats all you need 1x a year proof of concept! everything theyve developed lately is always reactionary ... push the envelope as a matter of fact push the envelope right through the shredder!
Sony Ericsson F1i (i like the sound of that) edit: maybe it should correspond to the year instead of an incremental iteration: F2008i

I definitely agree that SE should produce at least one phone that is their "look what we can do" phone. The P series phone used to be that phone. But it seems SE has run out of money trying to increase it's market share in the other phone range offerings that it can't devote as much time and money into an elite phone anymore.
It is afterall, no where as big as moto or nokia.

I second that, Moogoo, I dont think you can call the range complete if there isnt a full spec ultimate handset.

Nice forum Mizzle!!!
Something in my mind about Beibei, I earlier thought it was more of a walkman version of G700 but the recent rumors shows that it's more of mid-end walkman version of Paris??? I am right???

OLED still need more R&D to be used in the wild, the current generation viable only for limited colors or lower resolution, as increasing any will decrease the lifetime, all this coz of it's organic natural
that Sony 11 OLED may have high resolution compared to it's size but just look at it's price !! it still cost too much not only for R&D but also coz it has very low manufacturing capacity...
they need to find the correct formula
1- longer it's life with true colors & high resolution
2- simple manufacturing for mass-production
3- ability to produce several size's and resolutions without too much fuzz

if you read the page, the whole of 509 then most of your conjecture has been addressed ...
#2 is the only feasible argument right now.
the colors (blue specifically) last about 30,000hrs the others are closer to 55,000 in terms of a cellphone, thats MORE than reasonable as its ~3.5 years CONSTANTLY being on. as for TVs ... well thats just unacceptable you want at least 10 years with any display technology that was the main drawback to plasma when it first debuted. but for a phone thats completely realistic especially for a technology thats really in its infancy and has only ONE real product for the market to consume on a display sized level.
the resolution is 320x220 and the larger panels clock in at 960x540 its only a matter of time before those densities rise, remember these are proofs of concept. these will be EXCELLENT in the sunlight, man if had $10million and my own division at SE you all would love me! aesthetically we may disagree but as far as willingness to crush technology constraints out there im all for it. VISION, so many choices so much technology i say make it, put it on the table and let the other guys play catch up have the industry push itself, you had apple nudge it last year, and we have SE going gung ho with the X1 (fabulous radios)
paris (what we see or even what we want) will hopefully not be an incremental jump from the N95/96 iPhone clan ... im hoping for something that can do it all and the surprise me with that little bit extra functionality. faster menu and application response times is mandatory.
MANDATORY! as well as faster cam operations.
"why isnt anyone throwing these prototypes into buckets of water ... the bubbles let you know theres space to be saved" -sony exec in reponse to an engineer telling him their protype MDisc Recorder was the smallest they could make it.
