i have never seen some benefit with example Symbian S60. (except that you can install millions of third-parts programs, if you have some need for that).
S60 runs slower (compared to a full working Java),
cant run flash themes,
more unlogic Interface(meny)-design (takes ages to find something compared to Java),
more ugly Interface(meny)-design,
cant show full size wallpaper............and so on.
very excited about C905 new Java platform10 (JP10)

So you like bananas better than a red Ferrari?
That comparison makes about as much sense as your post...

S60 is very good software platform (whole Symbian is). you don't like it because you didn't used S60 too much probably or you used it in N70, besides you are accustomed to SE UI. of course S60 menu is "bigger" but I can't find nothing complicated in it

wait... I see big misunderstanding here. S60 is main platform in the phone, Java (JVM) is not main phone's platform. so, you are talking about two different things. besides try to compare speed of Symbian application (game) and J2ME... there's no mercy for Java

SE official statement: Shiho will be equipped with JP8.4

Plank, sometimes I think that you are from different world...
1. K850 have JP8 branch (JP8.2.1 in R1FA firmware)
2. K800 have JP7 branch
3. JP9 doesn't exist yet
4. JP10 is only temporary name or faulty name
5. let the facts speak...

good question, this basic feature that saves a keypress and allows event notification should be back in all new phones. more precisely, it should have never been removed. seeing the logic behind its removal is beyond me, but apparently it's not just me.
cheers!
