hey, y'all, could anyone solve this? I ve got a nokia N95 with wlan problem, though it connects well with other wlan network, it does not connect to my office wlan, it keeps saying "wlan not found" even wit excellent reception. The network in question is open and and unsecure and i ve got no problem connecting and browsing when i was using my N80. Dont tell me about inputing ip address cos i ve got no access to the network in question. Anyone with an idea? I ve upgraded my N95 to v12 firmware.

@areafada, yeah thats the first try on any N95, then i went as far as creating access point of the office wlan on my N95, but on luck, i read some forum saying i should key in the ip add of the wlan network on my mobile but i dont have access to the router, cos it s a free wlan

been catchin up on the posts. i'm surprised on how many simultaneous phone changes are going on. is the economy getting better or did a PNF member just sail thru thier ministerial screening and has offered us all juicy contracts? if i get any phone it'll be the P990 but im still watchin the price drop.

There are two main wlan types: 802.11a & 802.11b. The latter is more widely deployed and is usually what you will find at public hotspots. It runs on a different channel from 802.11a. Your office wlan network may be using a version not compatible with the N95.
Note that you have to confirm if this is the case here. In the meantime, Google can help you find other answers to your issue.

Deji successfully used a nokia N80 which has a WLAN type 802.11g on his office network. The N95 has 802.11b/g, which means the N95 should work. Problem should be with the configuration as earlier mentioned.

Multilinks beat you to my office. My home is still up for grabs. I am looking at flexible internet tariffs AND speed. Multilinks seems to have an edge on flexible plans over Reltel like the N400 for a weekend plan. Multilinks speeds are not exciting. I don't know what Starcomms has to offer. Maybe u can help me.

You've gotta be joking about that, cos I have an N70 afflicted with commwarrior that says otherwise. I just downloaded trend micro, but its the trial version and can only quarantine the file, not repair it.

The only cases of so-called 'virus' infections happen when people attempt to install cracked software or something they willingly accepted via Bluetooth. Fact: your Symbian device cannot be infected without your consent. Scaremongers may call xcommWarrior and co 'virus', but they are far from so in the real sense of the word.
You actually have to give your consent 2 or 3 times in installing malware before your Symbian device can get infected. No; the existing malware are not a threat to Symbian devices.
The anti-virus companies only want to make money. Enlightenment and common sense are all needed against the existing malware. Maybe someone will soon come up with real Symbian viruses that can sneak into our devices, activate themselves, spread and cause real damage. Until then, no Symbian device needs anti-virus software.

I have used Symbian for years and not gotten infected once. Why? I stick with reputable software channels; and I do not accept files I know nothing of.
If your device is already infected (with your consent of course), like in the case of your N70, simply hard reset it and the problem is dealt with. But now you know how to stay clean next time.
