Im very tempted by rumours of
a) UIQ 4,
b) Windows Mobile 7 (The idea of full Office 07 on a frikkin mobile, you tell me thats not awesome!),
c) Paris
d) any other of the 6 unknown UIQ devices which may appeal to me.

The last two are heavily influenced by the fact that Ive already been waiting around a year as it is for an ultimate superphone to replace my K700, and am getting fed up. Still, the first two could be very, very much worth the wait. So, to me its not a case of if, but when. I think if I can hold on till this time in 2009, something really INNOVATIVE will come along. Theres plenty of scope for it, be it a new model, or a new OS/UI. I wish I knew where the roadmap will take all this in a years time.

WM7 with FULL Office?! Haha ... I'll believe it when I test a production unit. Think about it ... Office 2003 is over 600MB of data thats not for a WM device but a UMPC. I doubt you'll be able to do macros (even with SQL Lite using db's within), or high-end formulae in Excel or that MS Access will debut. I think you meant full Edit, Create, Modify that is SIMILAR to the desktop; but not full Office within a PPC or WM Smartphone device.

PS: Edit & Create Word/Excel documents is already available on newer devices.

Bring on UIQ robust memory management, improved applications (hopefully that can share data with the OS subsystem & hardware components, and with other software & core apps), and more 3rd party supported applications to debut giving us NEW functionality or daily usage of these phones.

Prom1, the edit function for documents on UIQ is pathetic, it cant read or save formatting done on the PC.

And yes, the inclusion of office 07 was one of numerous great concept ideas for WM7. I obviously dont know whether it will be there in the final version, but itll sure as hell pwn quickoffice. Quickoffice is a gimmick for children, you cant really get much work done on it IMO. Its pretty much just good for reading simple files.

??? That's actually not true...
The most advanced features are not there, but DocsToGo allows to do really advanced formatting.
And Quickoffice 4.0 gives the real layout view.
Basically I can do what I need on my P990,and not only simple files.
It's very functional in fact, one of the basic smartphone function.

I begin to wonder whether I should get the G900 in the meantime, as its not as expensive, and then thatll last me until something really astonishing surfaces in the next 2 years.

You may aswell wait or if you have to get something now get the P1. Cam may be 3.2mp but it beats G900 in all if not most JBenchmark tests.

regardless of the JBenchmarks, adopters and testers of G900/G700 said that they are faster than P1/W960, in Eldar's G900 review he said that it's all about Software optimization, did a great job of optimization in G700/G900 as they didn't want slower UI with the cheaper hardware on Gxxx, so they optimized the software...

the diffrences in JBenchmark is notisable, but in real life you wont notice that much as JBenchmark is synthetic not a real word, and synthetic tries to be very tied in showing differences in performance and for that it uses every single function/API available, but real world application don't only some of the available functions/API.

it's a role, trusting the synthetic benchmarks increases when specialized in specific use, but no synthetic benchmark is totally specialized, yes we have 3D, 2D, CPU, etc... but even at this level of specific use it's still far away from real world applications, for example in computer world you have 3D Mark as synthetic benchmark for 3D performance, but if you went to the real world games, you will see a lot of diffrences between them as each game has it's own way of dealing with 3D API's and calling/using functions, 3D Mark tries to give you an overall numbering by simulating real world games but it can't, yes it's a very good way of knowing the performance of any GPU/VGA but you can't put it alone, some games will score better in a hardware that get's lower in 3D Mark... the same goes in Mobiel phones, only testing the phone in real life will give you the performance... JBenchmarks ad other's are good for overall/firstlook specially when numebrs are close

Despite what you have said the G900 is still just a rehashed P1 with a medicore 5mp cam and just a few new settings and meny layout.

??? Hm, with completely different form factor and some different software...
You could easily sum-up every manufacturer's phone, beeing basically just enhanced/simplified version of the other. So why produce 50 models?
So the whole Nseries has no sense, since they're almost identical and just differ in keyboard, the same with whole Wseries ect... Sorry, but it doesn't work that way.
If you look at it in such a general way, basically most of the products are almost the same since 90% of features are identical.

I know mate but im sick of the way SE have treated customers over the last few years. First delaing phones then taking too long to fix them. They need to wake up and smell the market share which is fast slipping away from them.
