Sony confirms Kazuo Hirai as new President and CEO, replacing Howard Stringer
Kaz, for his part, acknowledges that Sony is going through some "challenging" times at this juncture, but credits Stringer with steadying the ship, and seems clear-minded about the future. "The path we must take is clear: to drive the growth of our core electronics businesses - primarily digital imaging,
smart mobile and game;......... networked services, to engage with our customers around the world in new and exciting ways."
Hirai era officially begins April 1st

Kaz Hirai details his plan to save Sony.
Re-enforcing Sony's core businesses: Hirai recognized that digital imaging and gaming are Sony's strong suits, and stated that he plans for the company to capitalize on its assets in these areas in order to strengthen its position in the growing mobile market, which will become a big focus for the company after it takes full control of the Sony Ericsson partnership.

Sony Mobile’s MWC Press Conference times confirmed; new Xperia handsets planned
“Find out what’s new and what’s next!” is the strap line so it’s pretty much a given that we will see some new Xperia handsets being launched. Odds are that the LT22i Nypon (Xperia P), MT27i Pepper and ST25i Kumquat (Xperia U) will make an appearance. Also note the top left of the invitation, “Xperia Sony Smartphone” – perhaps a new logo for Sony’s wholly acquired smartphone business? Who knows, but we expect more details at the end of the month.
