@admad - i don't know how you noticed those little tiny dots. since it is only happening with slow shutter at 1s, my guess is that is residual light somehow. i don't know how you're getting a dark pic covering the lens with your hand cause at 1s, there is always light coming through somehow! i will have to try a completely dark room at night and see what it does. but i think the slow shutter is picking up light somehow, even the faintest bit, and that's what you're seeing. can't be dead pixels on the display as that would be black pixels. and since the spots are moving, doesn't seem like it's something wrong with the sensor. If it is the sensor, then taking a photo in a dark room would produce the same results and consistently same placement of the white artifacts.

EDIT: here is my dark pic. taken in a practically dark room. there was some light seepage from below the door and from the GFCI LED indicator, but otherwise it was pitch dark. I faced a corner and got as close as I could to minimize any light. taken in manual mode with 1s shutter, 0 EV, auto focus. Let me know if you notice anything cause I don't. Hope this helps! Maybe you can try a dark room/closet photo at night and see how your results are?

Can you post full resolution photo? With current size it's impossible to spot anything

I noticed these dots on the picture I posted while watching it on my PC, at first it looked like a star to me, but then it had no light around it, like a one lonely pixel. That's when I wanted to further inspect the sensor. Since it's visible only in low shutter I don't really mind, it's just that if it's only my unit I would like to know

sorry i didn't realize it only uploaded at low resolution

try #2.. i think i did it correctly this time. If this isn't good enough, i'll try uploading to a 3rd party and linking the photo. I still suggest you try the dark room test too.

Thanks, I found about 3 spots in your picture. So it's probably some kind of minor sensor fault, well, it's not that important.

Here's a couple of macro shots I took at a local motor show.

XJ - did you really need to go to a motor show to take pictures of the emblems on your cars?
