Personally, i think all digital zoom is pretty crap. Its not actually zooming in on the picture to get finer detail, its just bringing the existing image closer to you.
I dont care if the Japanese model has 16x zoom as opposed to the 8x of the S700, give me true optical zoom anyway.
Hopefully, SE will put optical zoom into their follow-up to the S700.

Agreed. Also isnt digital zoom something u can add later with an image editing program?

Below is an example from my nk7610 (1MP)
Normal 1MP Pic
4x Digitally Zoomed 1MP Pic
(remember esato reduces the size for the forum)
Digital zoom clearly degrades the quality immensely, so despite a 1.3MP camera, at 8x zoom, the result will be horrible.

I have no idea how u guys can open a 7mp picture and scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to view it, then all the way to the other side unless ur monitor is 60 inches. to me its a hassle. plus trying to send even 5mp pictues using :bt: or usb, or whatever can be really long process.
optical zoom would be great though

Very disapointing- it has the exact same software as my K700.
I though that SE would have made it even more cutting edge.
The only thing going for it is the big screen and memory card slot.

so donīt send trought bt take out the memory stick and put it in youre computer thats the idee itīs fast and efficient .....
