Has anyone read or heard about the Nokia Aeon(concept phone)?I've seen the pic and read about it from the Palm Boulevard Newsletter. If Nokia can go ahead and release this handset we'll think we're somewhere on Star Trek.An all touch screen phone!

@ jmash, i posted about the nokia aeon a week or two ago with a link to an article on www.theregister.co.uk. Pretty interesting. Just wonder how long such a battery will last if the appearance of the phone is dependent on that. We will get there. Tech expands at such a fast rate. And im sure the more preferable mobile manufacturers will come up with matching tech. I just wonder if we will get there. Technology seems to bypass our ideas and swing in a totally new direction at the fart of an ant:)

@ brix, what is this you speak of? Who is offering this? Will see what i can find out when i have a minute or two sometime.

Johannesburg - Sub-Saharan Africa's biggest cellular operator, MTN , said it had teamed up with media firm Naspers to offer Africa's first mobile TV service but needed a licence before a commercial launch. Read more here

@da wanqsta: I don't mind at all mate.

Initially MTN announced that they were only offering two channels- Fashion+CNN- now they're apparently offering 11 channels.

When da monkeyman emailed me some months back during the initial DVB-H trial, he said that the subscription to the service was linked to your DStv account, meaning that you had to be a subscriber to the satellite service to use the trial.

Will trawl the net for some clarity.

I'm going to follow this one with vested interest

My father worked for Naspers for most of his adult life, and now that he's retired he still does consultancy work for them. He bought up as much stock as he could with their initial flotation, so he'll be meeting this news with great anticipation.

Nice Nokia there, Wanqa, both of em

OK, trawled the net but could only find this site, there's no word on how people would pay should the service become commercial next year(should they be granted a license).

Samsung P910 is available as an MTN exclusive and they've promoted it heavily as a phone with tv functionality...if I had a spare R4000 lying around I'd also pick it up.

@ wanqa, not sure if jim will go. We chatted a little while this evening, but had more pressing matters to discuss, so never got onto the topic.

Cool, 11channels...but bandwidth is still a concern. Considering 1 43 minute episode of battlestar galactica is about 140mb, watching mobile tv is far from worth it. So you dont pay for the data, a buck a minute is still lots. Once that concern can be addressed, maybe it will work.

@ wanqa again, enjoy the show! Looking forward to the pictures and info:)
