Settings -> Accounts sync -> check Auto-sync & Background data
and
Settings -> Accounts sync -> your gmail account -> check Sync Gmail
should fix the gmail sync notifications.

You dont/shouldn't need or use one on an Android phone. Can cause more problems than make the phone better.
I thought more apps running is not healthy for the phone right?

I also removed Moxier and Quadropop using Titanium Backup.Good to have Moxier off the phone.Never used it.

Really? I found I get them about the same time, occasionally faster on my phone than on my PC. Did you check the background data box? If not then it won't refresh after a few moments of the screen locking. Also, might be obvious, but make sure the data signal is strong. I've found my data strength isn't as good since the 2.1 update; more temperamental.

sorry Ricky D that was my x10 prediction had rocky 1st then yours 2nd sorted it as 1st Now its all checked signal is 4 bar Hsdpa.....
