If the iPhone has not been cracked yet, then those fellows offering them for sale here are simply playing on the intelligence of others. Shame.

Indeed, right now you'll be buying an expensive toy...you'll be able to use the wi-fi but none of the network services that come with the iPhone- so basically you'll have an inferior PDA that looks nice.

Trust Nigerians to get the iPhone even if the phone part will not work.
I didn't expect this so soon, but it sees the P1 has inherited most of the bugs of the P990i. SE and UIQ3 don't look like a good combination.
But I read somewhere that Motorola has successfully implemented UIQ3 on a phone that has proven to be bug free. so what is SE doing wrong?

Pls expatiate on this, don't allow your brother waste his hard earned money because I am seriously considering the P1i.

And if SE is not careful, Moto will soon become the toast of UIQ3. For one, Moto put style into the Z8, acclaimed as a multimedia monster. The form factor of the Z8 also panders to the mass market - which is where real sales are. If Moto follows up strong, SE will be left wondering what it did wrong.
@mamba: I just checked the
P1 Bug thread, and shockingly, it seems SE just added extra RAM to the P990i firmware and put it in a different body. People are reporting the same bugs as the P990 has minus the RAM issue. Does not sound good. But again, it may all depend on whether or not you can live with the bugs.
It is just a shame that people have to pay for 3 or 4 years of ongoing development the hard way and still get this. In contrast, I am yet to run into a bug with the E61i, as intense as I use it. That doesn't mean that one or two may not exist though, but I haven't hit one yet.

Ahem...actually, I prefer to query the laptop manufacturers. Why change the format of their PCMCIA slots? Those odd-shaped cards are very scarce (as a matter of fact, I haven't met one person who has seen one, talkless of use it).
When buying a laptop, one of the things I check first is to make sure that the PCMCIA slot is the regular one. Saves me a lot of hassles later.
Your options:
1. Get a table top phone; or
2. Get a USB modem instead (usually a little more expensive than PCMCIA)

@ 2tek: Its most likely your laptop uses the newer ExpressCard slot.See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ExpressCard.The sad thing though is that its not backward compatible with existing PC Cards(as you've probably found out).
