Do all PSU’s work with both AMD & Pentium mobo’s?

And can anyone recommend cheap place to get them other than gaybay. They don’t have to be very powerful psu’s (300-400w) btw.

Most modern PSUs have the necessary connectors for both AMD and Intel boards. It's the second hand or REALLY cheap ones that you need to be carefull with.

How about this one on ebuyer? http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/61308

500w, has all of the connectors, £14 plus delivery. Ebuyer has cheaper ones too but to be honest, you shouldn't skimp on the power supply. It's obviously a critical component. PC Enthusiasts pay £100+ for power supplies so £15 - £50 is resonable for us mere mortals

Cool, thanx

Basically I’m building a bottom range pc it only needs ms office and access to the web. Nothing to power demanding, so no need for a high powered psu (me thinks).

And I haven’t decided on whether an AMD of P4, I have an old emachines which has gone tits up and have a suspicion it’s the psu so want to test that system too, to see if i can salvage anything from it (mobo, cpu...etc).

Might be worth searching ebuyer for a case+PSU deal. Colors IT are reasonable in terms of quality. Not the best by a long shot, but generally reliable.

@joebmc, you'd do well with an Amd sempron/ 64 (socket 754 or 939) or a Pentium 4 based system..

Some parts of me are artificially enhanced, I'll leave it to your imagination to guess which parts though

Trying to keep my thought off imaginning which parts of Cyco's body are artificially enhanced, I'd like to ask a question.
I just bought a HDD and intend on installing Linux on part of it. Does/Can Linux use FAT32. If so I'll partition the HDD while installing Linux, if not I'll have to partition it first,right?
I'll be installing PCLinuxOS, I've read the review on Etremetech and I feel I'm making a good decision.

Well if any one will answer this question, would XP detect my new unformatted HDD? And then I'd just tell it to format it. Maybe I should just try myself and see.

Well XP does detect the HDD but its not seen in my computer and I can't see how to format it. Its a 160 GB drive but device manager seems to think its 131 069 MB, now that's 130GB. I have SP2 so isn't the size limitation fixed? My main point is, will Linux format the drive as FAT32.
