Have you seen this topic about Windows Phone 7 - http://www.winmatrix.com/foru[....]one-7-details-no-multitasking/ . It's a real drawback compared to WM 6.5.3.

Absolutely no believe in no-multitasking.

P.S.
Very important:
Just heard it through the WM conference: Microsoft was asked how about customizing UI when SE wants to look like SE, and Microsoft wants to have the consistency.

The answer was not straight but he gave examples from the past, saying
that there will be "extensions" possible but not fundamental rebuilding of it allowed - that
is how I got it.

Assuming: probably some changes possible to differentiate let's say SE from HTC,
but restrictions will be present too.

And that is actually OK with me. Looks like WindowsPhone 7 will be pleasant to use.

But it also looks like a much more closed ecosystem like Apple.

Looks like you have to switch apps through homescreen so it's
like closing apps before going to another...

In this case it will be disaster to any user who don't gives a fcuk about Facebook
but wants to have a powerful platform.

Wow, great quote! Seriously, this can't be anything but a PlayStation Phone, right? What other kind of phone would SE need a close connection to Sony for really? Plus, I could see them adding multiple models, some touch screen only, some in the PSP Go form factor with all PSP buttons.

With XBox Live hitting Microsoft Phone Series 7, Sony will have to follow anyway, and they have had the time to plan and develop it for so long already, it's about time!

Edit: Only other possibility I can think of is a Sony / SE tablet? Then again, I don't think Sony would need SE for that.

I dunno what's better that comes outta this.
1)SE releasing an official launch product for WinMo
2) A WinMo that looks decent to use.
3)SE taking this and sexing it up to the high heavens with their awesome customization
4)An SE WinMo phone I can finally buy.

WP7 can multi task the main elements like music and web. Apps become shortcuts so you can switch between them. Overall, a stunning advancement on the previous OS. Expect the WP7 phone 2010/2011.

The announcement was actually good because they filled various gaps in important markets. While there was nothing revolutionary, its still a solid showing and with such phones; much more likely to succeed than fail.

when you check out the press image for MS450...you will notice the audio jack look HUGE!

i wonder what else it have beside being a 3.5mm jack.

I guess this is why...

Looks like the return of the ol' quality high-end Cassette Players and Mini-Disc/Hi-MD Disc players (all portable) with remote control via a side port of the 3.5mm. Still think the existence of the X10 Mini is a bad mistake.

you'll find out more about multiple app switching at MIX next month as Balmer said. Due to the early presentation and no product launch until Xmas 2010 season (which is late week October - December) its possible heaving coding with .Net, C#, and other new coding schema's are going to be used ... very Zune HD like which is a plus, the bad is no multitasking that we can see.

BONUS: IF Zune HD based in terms of hardware then most likely NVidia Tegra2 is used and that is a HUGE extensible platform (much better than the Qualcomm Snapdragon2) ... we're talking 8-core Cortex A9 ppl running at 1Ghz or more!! which includes SMP support ... Snapdragon2 has not been confirmed to be SMP support - and if you're not sure what that means ... take a look at what your PC of your choice is able to handle apps running simultaneously ... that'll give you a hint of what SMP gives you - of which OpenGL is a (vague extension of that).

badassmam, what you've explained is like apps running headless - very similar to what JSR271 is proposed to accomplish, nothing new I know, but very different. What we're after is quick app switching where apps processes are not reduced/paused/killed until next GUI (or Headed) launched to the user to complete/execute their intended tasks.

Being always on a budget, I always hope for lower end phone. So I can buy and SE market share hopefully improve. But then the X10 mini pro might be low enough.

I suppose there are still gaps to be filled but that's what the rest of the year is for.

And WP7Series(gotta use the official name ) integrating with XBox is the only problem. SE could live with the stock UI since it is good but XBox?
