Yeah when i double click a song to play it shows up in the corner like it should, just not on my ipod

Just trying the first thing before resorting to a firmware update.

Hi, got 3 questions:

no 1: I changed a couple of icons around but need to cange them back to the originals, where are these kept on the hard disc? Or is there a button I se to change them back?

no 2: due to not all my data being wipped off one drive I need to repartition it, but cannot just format it and do it that way (I only have one 250gb hard disc), I have 3 partitions and want to merge 2 of these into one, is there a free program that can do this without having to format the hard disc?

no 3: My ipod video as been acting up recently, its been having 2 main problmes, the 1st, when playing videos after about 30 sec the sound cuts out till you fast foard a bit then works fine for the rest of the video (the files themself are fine and it has only just started doing this). The other problem is sometimes but not all the time near to the end of the a song it will just change songs and cut rapidly, I don't think there is anything wrong with the music as its fine on my mac. I was just wondering if it would be best to send it back and have it fixed (prefered as il get a brand new one back) or if i should just try to format it and start again(this is not prefered as I have over 17gb of files on it and my mac is only usb 1.1 - which means its goign to take atleast 12 hours to update it again)? All I want is a opinion really

Cheers Luke

1) Usually you can just 'Get Info' on the icon, select it and press delete to go back to the original default icon.

2) There's no free programs that I know of - in fact the only programs I know of that can change partitions without reformatting are VolumeWorks 1.31 and DiskStudio 1.1.1 but I've not tried any of them, and apparently there's always the risk of data loss with these type of programs.

3) Before sending it back, I'd try downloading the latest iPod Updater and applying that.

Cheers I really didnt have a clue was trying for about 30 minuites to get my hdlogo to change back to the normal one lol

I have heard of a loss of data with these, I know the windows ones are pretty good like partition magic etc, do you think its likely that I would lose data, or is it just one of theose chances you take?

I already have version 1.1 on there, I suppose there is no harm in running it again, though I am quite tempted to go for a new ipod lol, though mine is in great condition even though its 3 months old now

Hi there welcome to the world of mac - the best a man can get - corney

Jools, you say you get a website, but do you get the whole www.iownamac.com address

I looked at the site and can't work it out I understand you get 1gb of storage fro files and website hosting, but I'm not 100% on the whole website stuff, am I correct in thinking you need a domain name and server space, are both of these included?

Cheers
