I would not call the men who were attacked children. There are men, maybe young men but still adults. Although it still doesn’t make it right.
The fact that a lot of people were saying that the troops were beating children just goes to show that this war is turning into a propaganda war.

So why should they be classed as children?

Ill guess and assume the oldest was maybe 16/17.
But the one that was beaten with a stick thing was very young!!!

@slattery
With respect the TA is supposed to be a reserve force, the fact that they are being employed in Iraq is another matter, which has to do with defence cuts and and overstretch of the armed forces.
There is an article in today's Sun newspaper, which had ex-SAS member Andy McNab (a nom de plume) who said that the soldiers were in fact acting in accordance with procedure. He made the claim that the soldiers used their batons to hit the arms and legs in accordance with training procedures. He also offered background information as to how the troops might have been operating and why they might have taken people back to their base. Furthermore he said that no one had been killed, which he argued would not have been the case had it been American troops involved.
I have to say that McNab's account has inconsistencies; the headbutt for example, or the kick to the groin, or the cameraman. He didn't touch upon those topics and I am extremely doubtful as to them being standard army practice.

At the risk of sounding rude, would it be possible for you to offer an objective opinion or at the very least an opinion that wasn't draped in the banner of political grandstanding? As much as I appreciate you have certain views on various things, must we hear a political rant every time we discuss current affairs? I realise that politicking and grandiose rhetoric may be incumbent to such issues, but I daresay that we can manage to hold a discussion on them without infusing the debate with a party politcal broadcast.
