I don't complain I don't have a problem. I don't even hear that hiss.

To conclude that the fone have the problem u must conduct an experiment. use the same song on different players.

I did.

Eliminating the cause of the hissing noise problem:

The MP3s:
1. Played them thru PC, using my Logitech speakers and Philips headphones: no hissing.
2. Played them using W550 and W900 using each phone's respective stock earphones: no hissing.
3. And of course I remember playing the exact same songs on my W800i when it was still using R1L002 firmware: no hissing.

My W800i's HPM-70 earphones:
1. I tried my Philips headphones, and then my Sony earphones using my W800i and its HPM-70 dongle: hissing heard.
2. Tried the W550's HPM-70 and W900's earphones (using the W500's and W800's HPM-70 dongles) on my W800i: hissing heard.
3. Tried all the earphones using the PC to play the MP3s: no hissing.
4. Tried all the earphones using the W550: no hissing.
5. Tried all the earphones using the W900: no hissing.

@kristianm

Strange that in your post above you mention that regarding the MP3s, you :-

2. Played them using W550 and W900 using each phone's respective stock earphones: no hissing.

5. Tried all the earphones using the W900: no hissing.

But, over on the developers site you post : -

"...i speak the truth and i believe every consumer has the right to know this too. this is present in ALL walkman phones"

I wish you would make your mind up. I am just about to purchase a W900i ! Is it present on the W900i or not.

@goldenface,

That thing you quoted wasn't my post.

This is the only post I made in SE's developer forums:

I think I will go ahead and buy it anyway. I haven't heard of any problems with the playback.

That person who posted on the developer forum seems to be in a right mood about it.

Nice experimenting Dude.

Les just hope that all these new walkman fones have resolved most of these problems and they have added new features too.

i agree on the fact that the w800i does produce a "hissing sound". but that's hardly noticeable. i was using the w550i before, so i was able to detect the difference. NO ONE, and i repeat, NO ONE who's heard the quality of the sound coming out of the 2 stereo speakers of the w550i, would tag the w800i's sound "BETTER" then its predecessor. w550i is the best mobile ever by SONY, AUDIO-WISE.

but otherwise...w800i is a decent buy for those who have not experienced the w550i's SOUND quality...

and also, one major + point about the w500i is the "STEREO WIDENING" feature in the WALKMAN. which is absent in the w800i.

Hardly noticeable?! It is the most irritating mp3 player EVER. Every single smooth song or a quiet part (e.g. the end of the track) is RUINED by this phone! I really regret buying it.

And I'm not some music connoisseur, you must be deaf to miss the hissing!

i agree its very noticeable. Even if turning ur volume to FULL blast(making ur way to becoming DEAF) it is still very present in the silent and soft parts which ruins the entire song. >
