The official link to the SPV, check it out:
http://www.orange.com/
I would like to say that I like the P800 and I am really angry because it is taking to long to be released.
The SPV is not what I am looking for, because I would like to have a PDA and phone in one. Touch screen and big screen are two imprtant features..
But the SPV is really interesting.
There was someone asking if he or she can use the SPV with Voda. I think that the phone, being exclusive for Orange customers, is very likely to be locked...
Phones are going in an interesting direction and I think that this SPV will sell very much pushing all manufacturer towards new innovation. This makes me happy... And I also think that it might make

revise their strategies for future releases.
Is there someone from Italy on this forum... In a couple of weeks the SMAU IT-show in Milan will take place.
I think it would be interesting to have a review of the things shown there.

No luck for us man, i assume you are in the us, like myself. I love the phone too, p800 is nothing compared to this, it has it all triband and 65ktft and everything else, (no bt though) but the problem is the phone comes exclusively on orange network, which is as you know not availible in the us, so since this is the case, it will not be released for a while (europe confirmed release date: nov 11th) so it will be locked to orange and that means no chance of us getting it.. because i don't think that anybody will sing up for a year contract just to get the phone and sell it over the ebay... so no luck, and even if you did find a way to get it, it would still be locked, which will take some time for the hack to get developed. the phone is simply amaizing and i am craving for it, but no spv for us for a while. However, there is another alternative it is called SENDO Z100 (STINGER platform) it does not come locked to orange and it works in us as well, the problem is it has not been released and i got an email today from them saying sometime in the beginning of the 2003, so still long waiting time there as well.
check the other one at :
http://www.sendo.com/dev
so i don't even know what to do myself, i want it badly, but it does not seem i am going to get one anytime soon, so i will stick with my t68i and 7210 for now...

Well, I referred to their picture messaging thing they had and that fouled bluetooth support in 7650. And pop-port? They get credit for using symbian though.

I believe you mean Smart Messaging when you're talking about picture messaging. First of all, Nokia developed Smart Messaging before there was any other similar solution for gsm-handsets. Anyone can license Smart Messaging to their phones and some manufacturers have infact licensed it. But there was this one Swedish company who didn't like to license it for their use. So that's when the EMS get started. They just wanted to do a similar solution cause they didn't want to use Nokias solution, duh!! Why on earth?? This is the reason why there are so many interoperability issues with this thing.
Nokia supports bluetooth starndard. I don't think thats against any standardization to drop one profile.
I don't know what you mean with this pop-port thing. Does other manufacturers have standard interface for the connectors? I don't think so. I don't think there even is any standard for these connector interfaces.

SE should: kill P800.
Make a new phone with all P800 features, improve them (eg: 65k color screen), and take no more than 1 month from press release to actual release. Why not call it X1000! LOL
But really! I think this would be for the best! And I believe it would work much better than releasing P800 at this time.

this silence from SE as to when this will be released and with no set pricing in place is killing SE. Couple that with all the other competition out there (or so to be) this phone will have a tough time being a hughe hit. Its just too expensive.

Hopefully there will be a way to get one from Orange and use it with other sims. I've been getting queried about the SPV from some of the trading managers here at my company and they will prob buy me one just to help them out with the tech. From the specs it looks to be tri-mode, but of course the trick is dealing with orange to "let their people go" and get the phone sim free. I would imagine if you pay enough they will let you (coming from a corporate vantage point). I just wish phones were no longer subsadized and were just sold as normal consumer electronics and not bound to any one provider beyond what frequencies they are using. (of course in the UK that isn't an issue like here in the US) They should market their services based on value adds not on the phones. Makes it frustrating for me to pick global communication standards if they are all provider exclusives.
